Center speaker comparisons.

Getting a little bored around here so I figured I'd have a little fun & check out a few center's to see how they stack up against the LSiC & if they'll jell with the LSi15's. I do like the LSiC but there are times I feel I'm straining to hear dialog on some movies. Maybe it's the speaker or just some bad movie dialog. It's getting plenty of power so that's already been ruled out.

Here's what is coming to my door this week. Axiom's new center the VP180 which is a "hugh" center & the KEF Q600. In the past I did try the Aperion 6C center (it's not on their site any longer?) but I still liked the LSiC better in both music & movie performance. I don't know what to expect from these two new speakers but I know I'll be having some fun for the next 30 days.

The Axiom VP180 arrived today. Holy sheeeeet!!! is this puppy huge! I'll be setting it up tonight but won't get to listen (we're heading out to do some deep sea fishing). The KEF Q600C arrives on Sat. This should be an interesting experiment. I'll report back with my findings.

I have 4 LSi15s in my HT. I used ot have the LSiC, but I felt that was the weak point. I have a pair of PSB Synchrony One towers for my two channel, and felt that while they were certainly better than the LSi15, the LSi15 did a good job and was close to the PSBs.

So, I upgraded my LSiC to the PSB Synchrony One center, and it works great. Being 4 ohm i did not even have to adjust my AVR level, and it blends right in. Yet, it makes the center more defined and have a better sound field. Great upgrade IMO.

I am with you. I really like the timbre of the LSIC but I too sometimes strain to hear some dialogue. The Axiom is waaaaaay too big for me. I am really interested in hearing the new LSIM centers. The 704 seems to be pretty close in size to LSIC. I am really interested in hearing how it stacks up. The 706 is considerably bigger and of course is the one I am drooling over.

Looking forward to hearing your reviews of the Axiom and Kef.

Where do you all have your center channels placed....ie on floor angled upward, above the screen, etc? Just curious....
