Marantz Slimline enough to power Polk M70 IIs?

Hey guys, this is my first post. I have a question or two and could use some guidance.
I've been very happy the last few years with my perfectly matched Marantz 2235B and Bose 601 series 1 speakers in my bachelor pad. Now I have a girlfriend and want to move everything to our main room and maybe even get her listening to some good music. Problem is, my 601s are too ugly for the main room so I need a new setup, and I don't want to lose quality.
I've already picked up some Polk Monitor 70 IIs after my research here. I'm looking for something to drive them that's got at least 5 channels in case I decide to go that route. The new Marantz nr1602 will fit perfectly on her media stand and it has AirPlay which is huge for me. So my first question is, will this be receiver have the guts to power these 2 channels at low to medium volumes (this would be 99% of my listening)? What about higher volumes?
Thanks in advance for your help!

It would serve your purpose but at only 50 watts a channel, I'd be hesitant to use it in surround mode with any bigger speakers. I don't think it even has preouts to add an amp later on. Just for the 70's and maybe some efficient 8 ohm surrounds though, you should be fine.HT SYSTEM-

Thanks TonyB, that's good to know...fyi this model does have 2.1 pre-outs, the earlier slimlines did not, cheers

Check the Carver M500 amp in this thread. It would more than do the job for your front 2.
