The RTA's will best the IIc's pretty easily for most music and reliability to boot. The IIc's are getting well past the point of needing to be rebuilt due to the wire coming delaminated from the mylar film. The only spot the Maggies will do better is in vocals and string instruents, but the age of them would have me run from them pretty quickly.

I've had the 12b's side by side with maggies ( mg 1- IMP) models and on vocals and classical the maggies were very nice but the 12b's just more accrate and versital . The maggies were just too limited and the bass was too vague for me. Nice speakers just not up to the polks.

The RTA-12s will have better bass and treble... But the MG-IIcs will have better imaging and transients. On some music, the MGs will sound better, such as classical and jazz... On pop and rock, the Polks sound better.

I agree with jons mostly but my favorite listening music is acoustic jazz and the 12b's are wonderful for jazz of all kinds for that matter.
