Going to turn these HT Monsters into a 2 channel lean machine!

Guys were stupid fast. Love it.

Check the pics.

You gonna leave it like that or maybe get some rhino liner/spray paint once you get the binding posts in so it blends a little better?

    My goals are as follows!

    1) Sand down enclosure to reveal the oak veneer beneath - going to follow this site for prep/stain/finishing - going for a red color similar to my Super Towers

    2) Apply sonic barrier on the rear half of the enclosure to dampen the enclosure but not kill the sound.

    3) Apply dynamat to the baskets

    4) Make a solid wood base similar to my Tylers and somehow detach the power port piece.

    5) Sand the aluminum piece and get it looking pretty, thoroughly clean and put a coat of poly on it to seal it off!

    6) Install insulated binding post on the plate for each woofer for different wiring methods...

    7) Wire enclosure with high grade DH Labs 14 awg wire!

Going to power each one with an external 230 watt Dayton subwoofer amp.

Plan is to run them in the 2 channel rig and in the HT with a LFE hook up and run three subs at once in HT! :)

Most likely will paint the back and front with Rhino liner for a nice deep textured finished then clear coat over it to match the rest of the enclosure! :)

    Hi Trey,

You sure you want to alter a $$$ R&D tuned bass cabinet? I used to move alot of air from those ports.

    No jokes please...

Actually I think I am going to fill the bases with concrete or some type of filler to add mass rather than rebuild them...

I am hoping to have these rebuilt by October! :)

I tell ya what - if I could somehow make the days 48 hours long and only still need 8-10 hours of sleep I could do so much stuff

Even with 2 channel....sometimes you've just got to FEEL the bass notes.

Now the SDA-SRS2's put out some awsome bass without the need for a sub...pretty much.
I've been impressed by the older polks since I first heard the bass that the Monitor 10's put out for only having 2- 6" woofers and a helper passive.

Hearts' greatest hits was my choice of CD to play to listen to them and that combo changed my musical lifes idea that you needed at least a 12" woofer to get good bass.

Now 2-15" per speaker cabinet is another thing..
    I liked them alot too.

Yeah my problem is good recordings that naturally have good bass have awesome bass!

Then stuff like rock music where the bass is not so good and you have to draw it out of there - it is lackluster.

So I just need some subs I can turn on when needed to fill out the low end.

My Super Towers put out a good amount of bass, four 7" midbasses are no joke! They are solid down to 35hz too -- some reason rock music is anemic.
