Re-using the stock 8" woofer in a LSi 15

So I replaced the stock 8? woofer in my LSi 15's with db840's. Sounds great, wont be putting the stock ones back in. But I now have a set of 8" woofers laying around.
Would it be crazy to build some down and dirty boxes for them and run them as subs powered by either my Integra (90 wpc) or my HK 3490 through straight speaker wire in a sealed or ported box?
The way I would connect them to the Integra requires a bit o' cheating in the AVR settings. If I list that my fronts are "bi-amped" the rear surrounds in the AVR get the same signal as the fronts, and used the rear 2 channels for power. So even though my front 5 are using the Carver amp, I could use the "bi-wire" setting to give signal and power to the subs. They would have the same crossover as the mains I think.
With the HK and my Monitor 60's upstairs I would just hook them up to the second set of binding posts via speaker wire. The problem there is I have no way of setting the crossover on the HK at all.
Would this improve anything at all, or should I just sell the stock subs and call it a day?
