After some serious research finally took the plunge and ordered a TL350 set. Just to show you how desperate I am, I've used some creative ways to get it shipped from the US to Switzerland as these beauties are nowhere to be found in Europe. Must be one of the first set to hit the shores of Switzerland. Hopefully I can restrain myself from hugging the FedEx guy when the package finally arrives .

Will report back with my first impressions when it gets here.
My WAF-compliant components:

Marantz NR-1501 (tucked away in wall unit)
Sony BDP S370 (see above)
Polk TL350 front, surround and center speakers (on its way!)
Polk PWSi225 subwoofer (on the wishlist)
Apple TV V3 with aTV Flash
Logitech Harmony One remote
Samsung UE40B (did I mention WAF?)

Well, the TL350 package has finally arrived all in one piece and all 27lbs of it.

I have attached the front and center speakers and listened to some of my favourite tunes. It still needs some adjusting and breaking in but I have to say I'm mighty impressed by the clarity and superb imaging of those speakers. I have yet to add the surround speakers and replace the subwoofer. I'm thinking of adding the PSWi225 but haven't decided yet.

I'm really happy with those speakers and so is my wife. Even she can hear the difference and reckons it sounds a much better that the Bose cubes she always wanted . I don't regret the hassle of getting them shipped to Switzerland although it turned out to be a very smooth transaction.

    I have two questions though.

    1. What stands would you recommend for the TL3 and
    2. Is the PSWi225 a fitting partner for the TL350? Any other subwoofer I should consider given the frequency range of the TL3?

What I've noticed with my current subwoofer is that when I set the crossover frequency to more that 90 or 100Hz it gets very boomey and muddy. So leaving it under 90Hz seems to work best but there's obviously a frequency gap which not covered.

    Your feedback is much appreciated.

Not sure what subwoofer you currently have but you might try positioning to cure the boomey/muddy sound. For example, in my room if I put my sub in the corner the opposite corner cancels out some of the sound, basically it sounds weak, so I moved it between my left and center channel where it can really pressurize the room.

The TL350 sound and vision review that was posted somewhere mentioned they were most satisfied with the crossover set at 100Hz. They mention a problem when setting the crossover that high is voices can be played through the subwoofer. As you know the TL3 has a loser -3dB limit of 115Hz but it rolls off so will play below that level just at a lower volume. I would try finding the best balance between 90-100Hz and sub placement to try and fix the problems you have.

As for a sub, it would help to know if you are more interested in music or movies, the size of your room and your budget. I am more of a movie guy and have a large room so I would personally at least use the DDSWPRO550wi or bigger from Polk. The wireless feature would be very convenient. For non-Polk Audio maybe something like the SVS SB12-NSD but I am not sure you can even get SVS over there.

Thanks MADGSF, very helpful indeed. I'm more interested in music, I'd say about 70% music and 30% movies. I will try moving the subwoofer around and adjust it and see how we go.

I like the PSWi225 because of its wireless feature and given my preference for music would probably be more than adequate.

Still looking for speaker stands. Will report back when I've done a bit more research.

    Cheers

There is a great review of the TL350s in Home Theater Magazine this month, they paired it with the new DSWPro550 (wireless), great review. Check it out.

If your looking for a wireless sub, check out the new DSW Pro WI range. The combination of the sub plus the optional wireless kit is only a little more expensive than the PSWi225 and I believe its quite a bit better.
