Two Monitor70s, different volumes?

So I bought two Polk Monitor70 speakers and i sometimes feel like the left is a bit louder/better/more detailed than the right. Audyssey has them set at the same level (-9db iirc) and distance though (the angle is the same also). Am I nuts (probably...i think its close)? All wires are set up correctly as well.

I guess it could be speaker break-in, or maybe ive just been watching movies with sounds that originate from the left more often. I would say maybe my right ear is worse than my left, but I usually hear better out of my right ear.

But i'm probably crazy.

Thanks

If you're up to it. Pull the drivers and ensure all are connected...

I pulled my M70's drivers and found one was not hooked up... The connections can shake loose during shipping. I soldered all of mine down and called it a day.

AMAZING!!! I thought it happens only to me.
I got my new RTi-A7 front spreakers last week and while listening to music I feel that the right speaker sounds better in terms of high pitch than the left.
I crossed between them and still the right one sounds better, which means it doesn't speakers issue.

anyone has any idea what could be the issue here?

    Thanks.

I have heard it could also be a receiver issue, as well. I would like to replace my receiver with a much nicer one, but dont have the cash atm. Interesting...

    Kaz,

Make sure to check where your speakers are situated in your room.

Due to the layout of our last house my right channel M70 was in a corner, the left was not.

The layout of the house did not allow for me to pull the right channel out of the corner further than i had it, which was at 3ish feet already.

Before calibration, my right channel was always louder than the left. Due to the laws of physics and sound.

think about going to rat shack and get yourself a SPL meter and dial in your system. the benefits of dialing each speaker in is sweeeeet.

I am sure that's what audassy does, I dont have that program so I might be way off.

Anyways, point is, check where each speaker is placed, the issue might be that dam Newton and his laws F'in with ya.

    AVR: Sony 5600ES
Center: CS2II (Clarity Caps PX, Perfect Lay coil, Mundorf resistors)

Surrounds: Monitor 40 II (Clarity Caps PX, Perfect Lay coil, Mundorf resistors)
Rear Surrounds: Monitor 40 II (Clarity Caps PX, Perfect Lay coil, Mundorf resistors)

    More to come

Could just be the room. Reflections can reach your ear just a smidge sooner or later than the other speaker giving the illusion of a volume difference. Just adjust the speaker levels from your listening position.

Im going to try and make the room as even as possible between both sides. Im just starting to think im a little bit deaf in my right ear. Although it didnt seem like my old HTiaB speakers had the same affect on me. Odd.

I DID switch the wires and i also suspect it may be the receiver...it seemed a bit better. I did find out that a lot of content just isnt the same L/R.

I may end up just exchanging the speaker for a new one if i cant figure it out though, just for peace of mind. I dont have the ability to take out the drivers/open up the box (definitely dont trust myself lol).

Did you look at the speaker levels and see where they are set at ? Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater just yet.

Oh I wouldn't, exchanging is more of a last resort type thing haha.

Speakers are both at -9db. I adjusted the right to -7 db and it sounded even, which is why I think im more deaf in my right ear lol. Though when I had my sister listen to it, she told me the right was definitely louder. When they were even, she said they were even.

I dunno, it almost sounds clearer...I want to figure out how to get a bunch of different tones and run each one on each speaker.

Oh yeah, I checked with an uncalibrated spl iPhone app and it showed that the tones on the level calibration were both the same (88db iirc).

Still confused with this. I made the room virtually identical. I may try running audyssey again tonight to see what's up. I suspect it may be a channel issue.
