Hi Guys,

I just got my new Center CSi-A6 (WOW it's huge speaker monster  )
Can you please advice how should I configure it in the Receiver setup (Yamaha RX-V565) should it be Large or small?
Also I notice the following in the Receiver setup:
Crossover Freq. 90Hz
Is it the correct configuration?

Thanks

Shmulik.

I'd run it at small and 80hz, that's the general consensus around here.

I think the less expensive Yamaha's only offer a 90hz crossover point if set to small. But what B said. Set to small and let your sub do the rest.

I don't have sub. I have Polk RTi-A7 as front speakers.
If I will set the center as "Large" will it harm the speaker?

It won't harm the speaker, but you will get better sound if the below 90 Hz is sent to the front speakers (i.e., set the center to small).

I would be careful with the volume level on your AVR since driving those speakers is a lot to ask of it.

I don't think the AVR is programed to send the remaining lower frequencies from the 90Hz crossover to the front L/R speakers. It should only send those frequencies to the sub which is missing, therefore they will be attenuated from your sound stage until you run a sub.

I have ran my CSi A6 full range (LARGE) without hurting it. However, it made the sound a little muddy and the EQ for the center had to have some bass removed for protection of the speaker.

A sub is recommend for your next purchase.

    Thank you very much.
Even though you have sub you setup the center as Large?
How can I set EQ to the center?

You should "almost, always run your center setting (SMALL) with 80Hz crossover". It l's a very good rule of thumb.

I tried the full range (LARGE) setting just to see for myself.

You can go into you AVR's settings andd adjust any of your speakers at will. For specific information on you AVR's adjustment. See your owners manual because I have not owned a Yam AVR, thus I can't tell you the proper steps.

    I'd run it large.

While I was set at Small I was using half of my LSiC speaker. Large just sounds better IMO. Try it both ways and go with what you like.
Do you hear that buzzing noise?
