Vandersteen 2C's-Good Deal?
I saw this FS used at a nearby Hi-Fi shop:
Vandersteen 2C's used including stands filled with shot-$449....Is this a good deal.....Anyone familiar with the Vandy's?
Are they good for 2Ch listening?...How would you compare to LSi7's...thanks,peter

Which version 2C? Original 2C's, not a good deal. 2Ci's, that's a fair price, might be a touch high. 2Ce's or 2Ce sigs that's a good price.

The price sounds high. As a point of comparison I bought a pair of 2C's with stands for $250. Woofers needed new surrounds which cost $80/pair to redo, so my total came to $330 with some labor and running around on my part.
Most of these 2's will need the foam woofer surrounds replaced unless it has already been done. It is a devil to remove the cloth to inspect the surrounds and very difficult to see thru the cloth with a flashlight.
I have a set of Vandersteen 1's that I like very much. I thought the metallic tweeter on the 2's sounded a little harsh in comparison (a common problem for me) so I decided to sell the 2's. They guy I sold them to loved them.Norh ACA-2B tube pre, Sumo Andromeda SS amp. FYI, I believe the original 2C is the only version with foam woofer surrounds.
