Same speaker... The one on Newegg has a different front and is the "newer" design. Really depends on what your preference is. But the guts, from what I know, are exactly the same.

I don't know the technicals, but I assume the Series II on the NewEgg site are better.

From what I have seen, the Series II monitors are just a black paint on the fronts of the speaker and feet...

    The rest is the same.

That's what I was thinking, I just wantesd to make sure. I have M40's, M30's and CS2 all from newegg. So Ill also assume they're all the "newer" design.

I'm wanting to upgrade from the 40's to the 60's for my fronts. Just need them to go on sale like the cherry ones were this week. So they will all match.

    Thanks all for quick responses.

I have the series II 60s from Newegg. I think the differences are purely cosmetic. If you wait, they usually go on sale for around $114 per speaker on Newegg.

Oh, I've been around, lurking in the shadows. Trying to read and learn as much as possible. All my equipment is less than a month old minus the 360.

This is my first real leap into the world of non-htiab-home theater. So pelase bear with me as I may seem a little unsure of myself.

That's exactly what I'm doing. The cherry veneer was on sale all last week for $109. Once the black ones go below $120 I'll more than likely jump right on them.

I think I've seen the Monitor 60 drop as low as $99 per speaker. I could be thinking of the 50, though.

Don't even think about it!!! We all started somewhere and pretty much everyone here has an innate ability to get everyone else's wallets to part with large quantities of cash, so guard your wallet!!!! Welcome to club polk and good luck on your audio journey!

There is a thread about it somewhere, but the regular and the series II are basically just different colored bezels, and grills. The regular have grey grills where the series II have black, and the bezel is different colored too. But yeah - same speakers, just different parts.

Either choice is a bargain, the only difference is purely cosmetic. The Monitor series offers a level without equal in IMHO for the price. Kind of like computers, yesterdays wizbang top of the line is tomorrow's bargain. My new setup is Polk a CS20 center speaker, with Monitor 70's in the front along with a Polk PSW 505 Sub... and although I HATE to cop to it a pair of Bose 161 rear speakers. I am no audiophile, but I really enjoy Home Theater and the Polk's absolutely DO NOT dissapoint. After getting the 505, it was an EASY choice to get the M70's and CS20. The CS20 is freaking HUGE, so I had to wall mount the flat screen. The whole setup just sounds awesome.

well newegg must have heard my post, as the M60's are now at 119/each (shoulda said when they drop below 110, lol)

I guess I'd like a little reassurance that by adding this I will notice a marked improvement from what I'm getting now. And also because if I do grab these it will be my last expense on HT for a bit as I have promised the "better half" that I will cool it for a while.

So if I should maybe move in a different direction, or I'm over looking something please point it out to this novice.

Thanks again guys. As always, can't wait to hear the responses.
