Wall-Mounting Monitor 40s

This topic was brought up in an earlier post(circa 2006), but i have a bit of a spin on the question:
I have just moved to New York City, and obviously have limited space for my large Monitor 40s. I would like to wall mount them but unlike some of the other Monitors, the 40s do not have the eyelet in the back. I could build a shelf but that may look too bulky in such a small room. I have come up with two options: (1) use just the brackets from a shelf and either screw or use adhesive to attach to the bottom of the cabinet (2) attach a bracket to the back of the cabinet with screws or adhesive.
As I dont trust many adhesives to hold 16lbs on vertical shear, option 2 would more than likely involve screws. So finally after all of this my question. Would **** into the cabinet of my speakers mess with the sound quality noticably? I am not an audiophile (half deaf actually) and have a **** reciever, but would one day use these with a nicer one. Any suggestions or tips would be helpful. Thanks.

I had also considered attaching brackets to the back like on the 30's but opted for custom built (by me) shelves and attached those to the wall.Source: BRP Panasonic UB9000, CDP Emotiva ERC3 - Display: LG OLED EVO 83 C3 - Pre/Pro: Marantz 8802A - Amplification: Emotiva XPA-DR3, XPA-2 x 2, XPA-6, Speakers, Mains/2ch-Focal Kanta No2's, C-LSiM706, S-702F/X, RS-RTiA9's, WS-RTiA9's, FH-RTiA3's, Subs - Epik Empire x 2
