That amplifier has a thermal circuit that will shut down the amp if it gets too hot. 3 inches is not enough clearance for that amplifier. I have 6 inches above my HCA-3500 and that really even isn't enough. Needs more like 8 if you can swing it.

I've got the same model of parasound as you deseroner, these babies need plenty of air to breath.I've got mine by itself out in the open and have never had it shut down no matter how hard I've run it.

I own a 1200 as well , strongly rec. You keep it out of any cabinet, they need air. Also mine got very hot just before servicing and found a cap was leeking. Don't know if related or not but once new caps were installed and relays heat seemed to reduce quite a lot. But I would never use an inclosed cabinet!

The thing you have to remember about the 1200II is that is a ClassA/AB, and the bias is set fairly high... The New Classic I know for sure is ONLY a Class AB amp, not sure about the Fosgate. Class A Bias amps run MUCH hotter, and the Parasound HCA-1200II or even the HCA-1500A both have internal heatsinks. It makes heat disspation more of a concern.

Class A amps run HOT, that is most likely the difference. But Class A is worth it :) I think the 1200II runs approximately the first 10 or 15 watts Class A, then switches to Class AB. The New Classic is AB all the time, which saves a ton on heat. My guess is that is what is going on and why it runs so much hotter. I have 4 parasound amps, and they all run hot, and all but one have external heat sinks.

The fan will help a lot as it will circulate the air inside the chassis and help the heat sinks do their jobs.

BTW... Have you tried the 1200II on your mains? You just might like it. Vintage HCA Parasound or the new Halo is where its at, JMHO

No need to bridge any of your amps with those speakers. 300 watts @4 ohms is more than enough and 600 watts to that center channel is definitely not needed.
