Political Correctness'.........defined

"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a t-u-r-d by the clean end."

Cool stuff for sure. Forgive me however for sayin' that I question the logic of telling potential enemies of our planed weapons systems prior to them finding out for themselves when the bombs are still in the air when our pilots are already on the ground high-fivin' and tossing back a brew.:wink:

I know that scenario can't happen, but it sounded cool.

Maybe we will finally be able to "walk softly", because we will definitely be carrying the "big stick".

If that is the intended goal, I have to question it because with the amount of military bases we have around the world, you would think we are not far off of that target anyway. At least targets that matter, being an hour away of the center of Siberia for example means diddly squat.

Not to mention the nature of warfare has changed drastically in the past half-century. Heck, nowadays, it looks a lot more like the Colonists vs. the Red Coats in the 1780s than it does Star Wars. But the "military-industrial complex" (the term was, almost ironically, coined by Eisenhower) will continue to perpetuate itself.

Not that any of the above makes a hypersonic vehicle any less cool, though...

They've lost contact with it, not sure if it's a sound barrier thing or the laser radar just can't keep up, I hope all is well :frown:

I'm sure that DARPA wouldn't intentionally obfuscate the outcome of a successful test by fibbing that they'd "lost contact" with their new baby (twice in two tests), now, would they?

Dunno, CNN is still reporting it. They have to report it before someone else does.

I think it's interesting, that the AF is working on this, at the same time the USN is working on Rail-gun technology.
They may be looking at replacing the TLAM(N) with this tye of set-up.
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

The on-books funding for the rail gun was killed under the outgoing SecDef and the current administration's defense budget.

The idea on these is that we will be pulling back from various bases around the world. With some of these constantly in orbit, or the ability to put them there quickly, we can hit a high value target VERY quickly, with no possible loss of life on our end, and with virtually no way to stop the pain at this point...
