Okc $50 speaker roundup

I have four pairs of speakers I would like to sell and forward the proceeds to George Grand to throw into the pot for The Githens Center.

A couple things first. This has to be a local thing, Im in the middle of a large move and honestly do not have the time or resources to pack and ship speakers, so they will have to be picked up in NW Okc.

Im asking $50 for each pair. So please no offers.

1. Polk Audio Polk Monitor 5JR+.

Solid shape, except the grills have seen better days. Also I upgraded the crossovers about a year ago using Sonicaps and Mills. After the upgrade they made have 20 or so hours on them. They sound great, and still need quite a bit of burn in, I just have had too many speakers to spend the time with these that they needed.

2. B&W 600i

Cabinets are in fair shape, as are the grills. Sonically perfect and quite easy to listed too, not sterile at all as some B&W can seem. They are missing a jumper plate and a bindng post cap. So I used some jumper cable's with banana's, and will include these.

3. Klipsch SLX

I bought these from a guy who never used them, and I only used them lightly in my 2 channel rig, just to see how they would sound. And they really sound good for being On-wall speaker's. Would be a great accent to any wall mounted flat panel TV, they have swivel based mounts built into the back of the speakers, easy to mount and "dial in". They do have a couple place's on the side of the grill where the adhesive has gotten loose, but nothing some 3M spray couldn't take care of. These retailed a few year's ago for $349 each and are favorably reviewed.

4. Jamo Cornet 8011

Picked these up local, really overall nice speakers. Floorstanding and in 7/10 shape. Only thing I noticed was a slight pull in the cloth on one of the grills. I used these on and off and dug em, Im sure there are reviews and pics online. I think these are probably the gem of the lot. They sound really good with some tubes behind em.

Here is a link that has some pics of some of the speakers from a previous FS post.

http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102302&highlight=klipsch

Do something nice for yourself by doing something nice for others, any moola from these are going straight to GG for the Githens Center.

Thanks
Dave

AHHH! If you were shipping I would buy the Beemers for the sake of buying them. Not even sure what I would do with them.

If you want to ship... I am guessing the cost would be 30-35 bucks - consider them sold!

Sorry guys, I really am not able to ship right now. If nothing sells I may try, but that would be after I move. If I do, you'll both have first dibs.

And to update, the Jamo's have left the building. My wife's friend was over helping with some stuff and mentioned he was about to buy a Bose system.... So I gave him the Jamo's and Ill cover the $50 to the Githens.

Friends dont let friends Bose.

My ex wife's uncle gave me his old pair of Jamo Cornet bookshelf speakers a while ago. They were great speakers. I ended up giving them to a friend who was just getting started with home theater. I still miss them.

Don't you have one of those UPS stores around you close? You could just take the speakers there and they box and ship after you leave. Simple way for you to do what you want and for fellow polkies to help you and the Githens center too.

Come-on, maybe the mail centers will be cheap enough to warrent some sales. I do know, sometimes they're high but it really depends on the weight and distance involved.

Not even sure what I would do with them.

Try to mod them, end up jacking up the crossovers, and then try and part them out on the forum? Oh wait, these are B&W's, not SDA's.

I just bought a pair local to me to replace a set I sold a couple of years ago. I regreted selling my Jrs. and found a water damaged pair for cheap not long after that to tide me over again. These newer ones are clean but I'm pretty sure they aren't upgraded like these here.

I would've been on these too for that price if I lived close. Then I would've sold my reg. pair.

Tony that would kill the value of the deal. I would surely drop them off at a UPS store for someone, but I have a feeling no one would want to go that route.

Keep in mind at $50 each, these are all a steal. But if packing and shipping get involved, well the deal isnt so great.

At the request of anyone, I will drop any pair off to get packed and shipped on their dime. My apologies that I am not able to pack them myself at this time.

You keep trying to sell those local Dave. Bring them to the UPS store for their packaging expertise? Just take a sledge to them now and save yourself the trip.

And if they don't sell, it's the thought that counts, all the time.

My packaging store has done GREAT for my sales of speakers and gear! Sorry your guys don't take as much pride....

I'd trust my guys with McIntosh gear any day.

George I absolutely agree on the risk, just trying to accomodate if possible.

Sorry Dskip, but no time in the near future to go far. May be able to drive a bit south, but wouldnt be able to go too far with my schedule.

Tex, pm replied to on the 5jr's.

I'll just throw this out there.

I'll be up Dave's way a week from Sat.(20th) and would be able to pick up and transport speakers as far South as Wichita Falls for anyone South of the river that might be interested in a pair or two or more. Wichita Falls meeting would need to be the following weekend (27th 28th).

Already have the DFW pony express working this one on at least 1 pair George. Dave, Halen should be contacting you soon.

Ok so the 5jr's and B&W's left today with Halen aboard the Pony Express to Texas.

Met Halen today for the first time, great guy, thanks for pitching in brother. Next time youre in town, we'll have to go out and tear it up a bit.

That leaves the Klipsch, and up to $150 for The Githens Center.
