i think i've given up looking for any polk brand tweeters that will be able to replace the blown sl-6502's in my rt55 bookshelves. i'm ready to go third party. has anyone had any success with an aftermarket substitution that would be an easy install and provide something close to a satisfactory sound?

thanks,
~m.

Parts express is where I actually found aftermarket drivers for my vintage 30 some years old AKAI speakers. Just get the best you can buy as replacement but keep your eyes open as someday the original replacement might suddenly come your way (even if that ever mean to buy an old pair of speakers for parts).

Doesn't Polk customer service still sell a similar replacement?

You know you are potentially missing a deal here right now; http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122609 Check if Ben has anything still available for you as sales are not yet completed.

i just wrote an email to ben. thanks.

as to the customer service and the previous poster, yeah - i made two calls to them on different days and both cust svc reps said they had NOTHING that would would as an appropriate substitution for my sl6502 tweeters. they told me the other model numbers that would work - 6506, 6507, and 6511 - but they were out of stock on all of them and don't know if any more will ever become available.
