need a taller speaker stand for Lsi9s (at least 32")

I've scoured many of the threads on speaker stand recommendations for Lsi9s, but am having difficulty finding specific references to taller ones. Given the tweeter/woofer configuration of Lsi9s combined with my height (6'2") and listening position, I need something a bit taller than the standard 26-" or 28"-height stands to get the tweeters at ear level.

I've seen many references to brands such as Target, Skylan, VTI and Sanus as being good ones for Lsi9s, but when I've done some background searches I've had difficulty finding anything taller than 28" -- I'd be happy to go with any of these brands or others but I'm wondering if anybody has any specific model-based recs for taller stands that have top plates large enough for securing the rectangular-shaped base of Lsis.

Budget: I'm hoping to find something for $300 or under but would consider higher-priced items if nothing at that price point can meet my needs.

Bell'0 makes a 36" tall steel stand sold by Racks and Stands

List price is $251/pair, currently on sale for $99.99.

The specs say capacity is up to 100 lbs. and the top plate is 7" x 7".

I have a set of these and they are very sturdy and might work for you, especially if you add something to make the base wider.

I like these for the price:

You can get them in 30" too. But honestly, if I could afford LSi-9s, I would probably go for something of higher quality.

    Norm,
Have you tried the Mapleshade 'tweak' of putting the LSi9s on a low floor level type stand and angling them 'up' to your listening spot?

Just saying it might be something to try.

That's a good suggestion. My RT7's were about 3" too low, and I tilted them back about 10 degrees. It worked well.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

A quick follow-up on top-plate sizes....most of those I've seen measure somewhere in the vicinity of 6" x 6" or 7" x 7". Not that i would expect to find anything close to the size of the Lsi9's base (about 8" x 15"), but would top plates in the 6-7" squared range work OK with these speakers?

That is a good idea. The problem is that I'm in the middle of a move right now and have no speaker stands with which to experiment (I had them sitting on some metal shelving that I picked up Target, but disposed of that during our move).

Anyway, if I have to go with something a bit shorter, I'll definitely give that a try.

Good thinking. I just did this and found this pair.
    http://www.racksandstands.com/Transdeco-International-TD32B-TDI1047.html

Never heard of Transdeco, but it looks like the color would be a nice match for piano-black Lsi9s (the ones I have).

I also e-mailed Skylan to see about tailoring the height and top plate size of their SM-26 stands. I'm still waiting for a reply from them.

Needing an additional 4 inches or so have you looked into some thick heavy granite blocks or such to spike into? That could be a classy solution.

Sanus Ultimate stands are excellent, come in 30" and 34" heights. You can find them for under $300.00 if you look around.

Skylan stands are also excellent. If you ask Noel nicely (call him), he'll probably make you a pair up to 36" (including 1" spikes) for an upcharge and a little extra for shipping.
would top plates in the 6-7" squared range work OK with these speakers?

    Absolutely.
