Upgrading HT Set-Up
I'm new to the HT audio set-up world and was hoping to get some critique and advice on my system. I am not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination and probably 90% of my listening is movie/TV-based.
The upgrade bug bit this summer and I've been piecemealing things together, probably without enough of a plan. My receiver is a new Onkyo TX-NR609. My original speakers were a 7+ year old Onkyo HTIB set based around their SKx-200 speakers.
After buying the receiver, I wanted to upgrade the speakers and I initially went with the Energy Take Classic 5.1 set based on the great reviews that it got. After installation, the speakers sounded better than the old, but the tiny Energy mains looked silly next to the TV. As a result, I decided to pick up some Monitor 40s with a CS1 center from NewEgg and move the Energy's to satellites. Waiting on the CS1 to be delivered so I can set up the Polk's now.
Will that set-up (M40 mains, CS1 center, Energy surrounds) give me a good upgrade from both the original Onkyo speakers and the second set-up with the Energy system? Also, will the Energy sub be sufficient for the set-up?
Any other tips on setting things up will be appreciated, as well. Thanks in advance.

Upgrading your system it comes how much do you want to spend ??? Let`s start with the brains . Receiver , you can keep on the Onkyo brand but you also should consider other brands like Pioneer , Denon , Marantz , but keep in mind the best option is ... anything with pre-outs - later you can ad a nice amp to it .
Regarding the speakers you can always improve truth the monitor series with 70`s to front keep the CS1 for now but later you can change it for the CS2 , your 40`s moved to surround and if have the space /room to go 7.1 the Energy will do fine as back surround ( keep in mind that you also can improve this with a Di/bipole speaker ) .
This is the cheapest way to improve , but if you think about it maybe you will reach some way to go with a even better upgrade like the RTi/RTi-A line .
Edit : i forgot about the Sub , well this is another thing that you can upgrade with HSU , EPIK or BIC America ( this aren`t expensive at all and they are great value for the money ) and you can keep your also the Energy sub as 5.2 or 7.2 ( IMO 2 sub`s are one the best options )
