I've asked once before so I'll ask again, when are you going to post some pics on the "System Showcase". You seem to be idolized on this forum and just think it would be nice to see some pics of "THE MANS" H/T. If not, thants fine, just figured I'd give ya a hard time.

Man, that word (idolized) just makes me really uncomfortable. Respected for a "mid-level" subwoofer knowedge, I'll take.

There are guys on the DIY subwoofer forums that just blow my doors off in subwoofer knowledge, and I actually do most of my learning from them.

And then there are the manufacturer's representatives - read some of Mark Seaton's (Servo Drive ContraBass), Bruce Hall's (Velodyne), or Tom Vodhanel's (SVS) posts and you'll know what I mean. You shut up and listen when these guys are in the room.

And although I've said it many times, my current system is a product of recommendations from Club Polk members. I relied heavily on them and I've spent over $2,000 in upgrades (excluding the subwoofer) in the past year alone. And every upgrade made a positive audible and visible difference.

Russman turned me onto Signal Cable, wallstreet and Russman recommended and helped me buy the f/x1000's, and Mantis strongly recommended the 3803 (for my speakers), the M1.4 bi-wires, and the 2900. ALL have been excellent upgrades. As much as Dan takes flak around here, he has been dead-on in his recommendations for me and he has been professional and friendly to deal with on purchases. In fact I have never had a bad experience or fight with ANY Club Polk member.

Many of the big posters here have far more overall audio experience with many more varied product lines than I ever will. You see guys coming home with Rotel, Carver Amazings, SDA SRS, B&K, Musical Fidelity, Outlaw, LSi, etc. They have heard and demoed way more and way better equipment than I ever will. Hell, even Sid has heard Wilson speakers, something I can only dream about. I should have taken the trip to Club Polk, but I just couldn't fit it in.

Anyway, I just wanted you to know I come from humble audio origins (although I've been into audio for almost 25 years), I didn't know jack **** about subwoofers and bass management when I joined Club Polk (and my early posts prove it), and I just try to help out wherever and whenever I feel confident enough.

As to your question, my digital camera takes REALLY bad pictures (it's on my upgrade list), and truth be told, there is nothing terribly unique about my system.

I do feel it is a very strong dual purpose system for both audio and HT, and the components and interconnects are well mated and well matched, and it has been calibrated and optimized to within an inch of its life. And I am very fortunate to have almost perfect room acoustics at the listening position. But on the surface, it is pretty pedestrian (except for the sub).

Probably the coolest thing about my system is the room its in! I really dig how my man cave complete make-over hunting and sportsman theme turned out. All I need is leather furniture instead of the mis-mosh of upholstered stuff I have in there now.

I don't know if that answered your question. I guess when I get a really nice digital camera, I'll take some pics of my system and post them on the System Showcase, but don't look for anything anytime soon. Hunting season is ramping up and nearly all my efforts and free time in the next 6 months will be geared to that end.

    Regards,

    Ed

I am fairly new in this forum and may I say that every members I got in to contact with was very nice and sincere with their advices. I don't post as much as most of you guys do but, I've been reading all your ideas and opinions that are helping me to slowly go to your pathway. I give Doc.Spec much respect for all the help that his been giving to the newbies like me. I admire his humbleness. He's not ashame to say that he once was a newbie. Also, he never forgets to show his apprication to those who pitched in to keep him on to the more precised pathway.

Like Doc, I know the polk members who helped me set up my HT, explained the importance of SPL meter and Avia, encouraged me to stay off the poor quality speakers and focus on Folk, and showed me the options to set up my amp even if it's impossible to get a descent sound quality out of it(ofcourse the member was the one who mentioned the down side of this setup). I may be just starting to climb that hill but, I'll do my best to get there sooner or later.

To Dr. Spec and to the other pionere members (you know who you are) of this forum, we like to thank you for your continious support and for making this forum a stepping stone for the every one else.
