i checked around at 4 different local circuit city stores this weekend. all four of the stores had the PSW650 marked down to just $500 because "they were discontinued". salesmen at 3 out of the 4 stores reported that they will be carrying the lsi's, but only by special order.
is the PSW550 replacing my beloved 650? are these circuit city people getting my hopes up about being able to trade up to the lsi's, or is there something polk isn't telling us... micah, paul?

I'm sorry to report I could not reproduce your experiment -- as of a few minutes ago my local Circuit City (in Salem NH) still is quoting a price of $649 for a new PSW650.
However, the 650 is listed for $498 at http://www.absoluteaudiovideo.com/polaudpsglos.html ... anyone have any experience with that outfit? Looks like online-only.
(FWIW, I bought a pair of M3IIs at the same CC last week and while the price listed on the shelf was $99 ea., in the computer they came up at $79 ea, which is what I paid ... that made up for the fact that the first salesknucklehead who checked on availability of the M3IIs in white reported back that "they don't make them in white." Then I checked with a manager and they had two pairs in stock in white.)Main HT (family room): Polk Monitor 7 (1987-original owner) (L/R) / CSi40 (C) / RTi38 (SL/SR) / SVS 20-39PC (sub), Outlaw 975 pre/pro / Outlaw 7075 amp, Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray, LG 42LM5800 teevee

So ..... did we ever figure out if Circuit City was going to carry Lsi's ?Sal Palooza

What's a Circuit City?

They still have local Circuit City? I thought they all went out of business and shut them down. They did here in West Virginia

I do miss Circuit City. Competition is always good for the consumer. Best Buy needs a good competitor.

Circuit City is DEAD KAPUT afaik there are no more standing stores, although the name itself was just sold and from what i know they are planning on making it an online only business from what i read in the audio mags a couple of months ago.
my first necrothread. -

Necrothread--Good one. Well, yes, the name was bought and its been an online reseller for a couple of years or more now. They also BOUGHT all the CC customer e-mail addresses because I still receive all of their sales adds every week.
Sal also has a point....enough said on this dead thread!
