Depends for me on what exactly is wrong with the stuff and what those speakers are. Some models of old JBL are quite literally worth ther weight in gold. I would say it is worth checking into at least. When I go there, I would be as negative about repair costs as I could be and have a couple grand in cash in the glovebox just in case. Do a bit of homework on which JBL's are the heavy hitters first and the other gear as well, then go take a peak.

Nice system but I bet he would go to Ebay before letting it go for 2K.

I tend to avoid items that say things like, "Works flawlessly most of the time", and, "I don't think it's a bad problem". I would pass on anything that is not in perfect working condition unless you are good at fixing audio equipment and can get it dirt cheap - but that's me.

That is some really cool gear, but I would be nervous about it, too. Maybe read up on common Mac problems for that 250 and go from there?

The parts alone on those speakers are worth some coin, 4 g's is too steep for that vintage setup though. 1500 for everything is more like it, and even at 1500,I wouldn't call it a great buy.

....Those speakers can be worth $2 to $3 grand !!! Do some research. Those drivers are in high demand. Of course depends on what drivers. The "Blue" are worth more.

    Ebay below fore one speaker.

...Google JBL LX5 and then find out about the drivers inside. Different versions.

Grab the JBL's, leave the rest (assuming they don't show watermarks 1/2 way up the cabinet, etc)
