Ken, if your out there what should I do?

I just bought a pair of RT55i Maple finish through C.C. e-store since they don't sell them at the brick and mortar store. They have been in the box since they arrived at my house a couple of weeks ago. I'm currently building a theater and my RT1000i's are going to the theater and the 55's will replace them upstairs, so I wanted to get them out to see how they sound. As I was setting the first one down on a stand I heard something knocking around on the inside. Couldn't figure out what it was. As I began to examine them closely, it looks like the cardboard cylinder that fits in the hole below the two drivers at the bottom is out. You can see it laying inside the speaker sideways.

C.C. says they are out of the Maple finish and don't know when they are going to get more in their warehouse.

Are there any other options?

Please advise.

Thanks

Mr. Anxiously awaiting for the carpet guys to get over to my house so I can start setting up my equipment and get my theater rolling.

    Hello,
Thanks for posting on the Forum. I'm sorry you're having problems with the RT55i port tube, but I believe it can be easily remedied. It would be best to lay the speaker down on its back and remove the grille cover. You'll see the curved bezel which goes around the tweeter and the two drivers. There are eight 9/64th hex head bolts holding the bezel onto the front surface of the cabinet. Once they are removed the bezel, with the tweeter attached, can be moved to the side after the two wires to the tweeter are disconnected. Then the lower 6.5" driver can be lifted away from the cabinet and the internal damping material can be removed through the driver opening. The port tube should be able to be positioned in the port just underneath the lower driver. There should be a wooden "donut" that acts as a support ring for the end of the port tube. If you have access to a hot melt glue gun (found at any craft store) or silicon sealant to anchor the port tube into the opening that would prevent it from coming out again. If you have any questions, please telephone me at 1-800-377-7655 extension 891 and I'd be happy to help.
    Best regards, Ken Swauger

    Ken,

Thanks for the help. The driver was something to get out after I removed the tweeter and the driver cover or whatever you call it. What happend from what I can tell is the rubber gasket that goes around the baffle tube had slipped off. All I had to do was to apply the rubber ring around the tube and slide it back in and it held. I doubt this will ever be a problem again.

    Thanks once again.
