Hi all,
I'm new and I'm confused since I just joined the Polk forums a few minutes ago, so please don't shoot...
I don't want to ruffle feathers, but... I need 100 posts first?
If I'm wrong here, sorry, I didn't realize that.
Any help from a newbie here?
If I get blasted, I can take it, I'm OK to just fade away...
Thanks, Dave

    Welcome to CP!

Yep, 100 posts then you can sell.

In the meantime, there is a wealth of great info and helpful, knowledgeable people here. Search old threads, start new ones if you need to, and before you know it you'll be at 100... but by then you may want the keep the CRS's, they are a uniquely nice speaker!

Welcome to Club Polk deshart1959!

The main reason for the 100 posts minimum to use the For Sale Forum is simply to protect members from being invaded by people that only join for the sole reason of selling which would defeat the true purpose of this forum which is to share a common passion.

You have hit a great site where you can learn and share your passion for the audio hobby. I would suggest at this point that you simply stick around, get involved in discussions of your own interest and simply learn and share. While the goal should not be to sell your speakers but rather participate and get involved, as pointed out 100 posts will come quickly enough but if you take advantage of what this forum has to offer, your gain will be much more than a simple sale.

    Cheers!

Yep, classic passive/aggressive style. I know it's wrong and I'm new but I want to sell something.......

Welcome deshart1959, stick around participate, interact and then try to peddle your speakers. Rules are there for a reason and trying to skirt them is not a good first impression.

Tell us a little about yourself, how long you've been in the hobby, what kind of gear you own or have owned, etc.

That would be a foolish idea to follow deshart1959. H9 and TOOLFORLIFEFAN (Brock and Larry) have good advice and/or good modifications they have come up with that are invaluable to your Polk speakers. I guess if you really don't about the speakers and just want to sell them, follow stuwee's advice. However, if you would like to learn some things and make your speakers/system sound better, I would suggest not listening to stuwee. However, either way welcome to Club Polk.

Nothing wrong with stuwee's post. You are correct that H9 and Tooll provides valuable info on this site however, they do not necessary excell as good hosts. Yes, rules are rules but there is no reason to discourage people from joining this forum. Let's just welcome newbies as we are supposed to and time will tell if a newcomer is here for the right reasons or not. Despite how it looks, assuming and accusing is the wrong thing to do.

Let's see this thread as a chance to welcome a potential valuable Polkie. Heck when I came here I was too accused of rush posting (like so many others) in order to do a quick sale. Been around for a few years, my post count has growned since and my "sympathic welcomers" have been proven WRONG (and their paranoia exposed) and believe me many Polkies went through this negative welcome attitude before and after my joining (many are no longer around because of such negative attitude).

Our job as CP members is to make new members feeling welcomed and wanting to stick around (re-read the rules and comments on this matter) and when it comes to making sure rules are respected well, this is the MODs JOB, NOT the members! If one is suspicious of OP motives, simply report the post and let the mods deal with it, don't try to play God(s)/King(s) of the Hill!

My post was in reply to stuwee's response to the OP regarding ignoring H9 and TOOLFORLIFEFAN. I was not trying to imply that deshart1959 was simply trying to sell stuff on CP. My reply was trying to not allow stuwee to discredit H9 and TOOLFORLIFEFAN before a new CP member. I do (of course) agree that new members should be greeted in a friendly manner and with good intentions. But, that does not mean they should be greeted with ignoring H9 and TOOLFORLIFEFAN who have both helped numerous people here at Club Polk. That was the intention of my post. Sorry if that intent was not clear enough.

TK, you still don't get it, do you?

When an opening post is "I read the rules about having 100 posts to sell something, can I just post it here instead since I don't" (paraphrase) then yes, we are going to be a little suspicious. I see Ken edited the for sale part.

We look out for one another.

I welcomed him asked him to introduce himself and talk a bit about his experiences in this hobby. I'd love for him to stick around and partcipate. Call me jaded or cynical or whatever, but only on rare occasion does someone actually stick around and become a vaulable member when they start with a post like he did.

That's all. I'm entitled to my opinion just as much as anyone else.

I guess you don't get it, CP's purpose does not revolve around the FM. CP's has a much greater purpose than this to serve Polk audio. Polk audio is in the business of selling speakers, not to provide a mean for selling used. Let's just be gratefull that Polk allows it, it is a bonus but CP does not revolve around FM, it has nothing to gain from it, get it?

I must agree with the 100 post rule for several reasons, it allows the members to get to know you ( by your posts) and it allows you to learn something and share your knowledge ( mostly the former) so when you are able to sell, fellow members can have a sence of you and unlike cl one might know whome they are dealing with. Also selling is not the purpose here, but to share and learn about our common ailment ( LOL ) I for one have learned a hell of a lot here in a short time and have enjoyed the education.

I too got a little warning slap, as something I said was thought to be a put out for sale comment. Although I was talking free, and did send my sl2000 to another forum member free of charge I was made aware of the rules here, and they make perfect sense. I am not a newbie to my speakers, but am very much new to the forums, how to get around, search threads, and in general "fit in" as much as not to'ing people off with dumb comments. My advice, respond to your questions you get answers for, and not only will your post count increase, it more than likely won't matter if you have the post count up because by then you will have been scrounging for cash to fix them up and you will never sell them.

You have come to a special place, and I can say that for sure as a true newbie. These guys share the same love of the SDA line, and they will more than help new folks like me bring these bad little sound machines back to humanity and spirit. It's a whole new level of experiencing sound. Just with a modest investment on advice here, I was having full on concerts in my home, and hearing recorded music and watching movies in a way only taken in at great venues. Just the first tiny mod changed everything and my little CRS+ with a separate sub sounded better than $20000 home theater stereo systems I heard in admittedly overpriced stores.

so find out why we don't want you to sell them just yet, not until you can try and see why we are all here (cause we aren't all there)

I was a one man cult for over 22 years, and now I see that others appreciate good music, and what these things can do. You simply have to take some advice, implement them, see for yourself, and then make your decisions.

I'm not an elder, but welcome to club Polk.

And yet you still said "Just ignore them deshart, we do". To me, that is a blatent discrediting. Why else would you tell someone to ignore them?

If H9 and TOOLFORLIFEFAN disagree, then maybe I am mistaken as they were the ones you were talking about. But, I think with a comment like you made regardind H9 and TOOLFOR LIFEFAN who were pointing out how Club Polk works (the rules) and correcting a breaking of the rules, then you making your comment about what they said, I think my comment was spot on. Also, this thread was not started as a welcome thread, it was started with the intent of the OP selling his speakers. And that's the reason for this whole debate.
