    Well, thankfully there's a bunch of others doing that work to pick up the slack.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Not to (entirely) be an ****, but this is the same type of thread/result that would continually get Joe in trouble.

    I think this thread should be nixed and ben's status on hold/deleted as this is not a one time thing. It's a pattern and I'm uncomfortable with the people here being willing to help him out when he has years of posts demonstrating that his judgement is questionable.

    Sympathy threads that result in money, whether intentional or not, should be deleted IMO......

    If you are uncomfortable with this thread, why don't you simply stay away from it instead of in one single post put 2 men down, aren't they both crushed enough? One is not even around to defend his case against you comments.

    Ben contributes quite a bit to the betterment of this forum, and has helped countless others here, myself included...

    There is nothing wrong IMHO for him to alert others to what is going on, as he has lots of things going on both here and on the homefront.

    And inevitably this is what these threads turn into. One big swinging DI&* contest to see who's has contributed more. I am with Brett on this one. Threads like these should not be allowed. If people want to take it to PM and tell their friends that they won't be around for awhile, fine. But when we have these announcement threads, they have ended really ugly on a number of occassions. There have been instances in the past where money has been exchanged to help other members which is great until all goes bad. (Ask Joe).

    Ben has contributed to this forum. So has brett! We all "look out" for each other in the flea market transaction and brett is just "looking out" for the members who may not know any better about these types of situations.

    That I know of, Ben is not solliciting any money but simply warning people it is a bad time to send gear or other stuff his way as one may simply loose it. Warning people of potential harm is one thing but suggesting banning such thread is another story. I am not from the US but we all know Ben is not the only one going through such hardship nowadays in the US so why trying to paint the guy as a threath to the community? We are all free to read this thread or simply avoid it and there is no need to turn the thread into a contest of who's right or wrong.

    First of all....NO ONE suggested banning him Technokid.

    I would have kept this subject private, since it's no one else's business but that's just me. Hopefully he knows with whom he's doing business with and not getting surprise packages but I understand Ben's concern with this potentially happening.

    I hope he gets everything straightened out and it turns out being something life affirming in the end.

    Until then keep your thoughts positive and if there's something he's selling that you want, buy it and help out in that way. Everything else should be kept OFFLINE and at your discretion.

    We all know many people have sent gear to Ben for repair moding etc. Don't you think it is fair to let people know not to send gear as they could loose it? Ben has mentioned in one of is FS thread that he has to get his gear out of there ASAP otherwise it will go with the house.

    That's a personal choice, you act your way, I act mine, Ben acts his own way. Just imagine what he possibly is going through, wishing him well is the best we can do but being judgmental is simply the worse we can do.     Part of my post is directed to those who might be inclined to send money, because the tendency has been that those on the receiving end can, and have, hustled members here based on the sympathy angle.

    Specifically regarding Ben, I'm all for being sympathetic to his situation, but how many timed has he posted 'sympathy' type of threads?

    All I'm saying is we need to draw the line and not let our members get roped into someone's lifestyle where they clearly prefer chaos.

    Look, nobody is wishing the guy any ill will. we all have hearts and want to see him get back on his feet. whatever he is going through, I (just like everyone other human) hopes he comes out of it OK. I'm wjust saying that I am with Brett in the sense that if he had contacted other people to send him stuff that the best way would have been to PM them and let them know individually. Not a mass thread. There have been many posts like this in the past with clear ulterior motives that members got swindled (not saying at all that this was his intention).

    We all have our ideas on how something should be handled and if Ben was not doing buisness with the community all these years this may have been kept private as Ben has been keeping his life pretty quiet lately..

    Let the man have some breathing room fellas and let him conduct his buisness..
