I have been upgrading, tweeking my 2 channel system this summer. I'm not finished but boy am I happy. The two biggest changes, amp and speakers. Out, an Adcom 555II and Dahlquist DQ10s. In, Bel Canto's M300s and Klipsch RF7IIs. I ran the old set up for about six years and was very satisfied but felt a need for change. I'm still not sure how I wound up with the Klipsch, I've had Cornwalls and KG4s in the past but they didn't last. I like enough about horn speakers that I couldn't pass up a great deal on the 7s. Paired with the 150wpc M300s I'm in heaven. I listen primarily to jazz with some rock, blues, and country rock thrown in. This system does everything well. The drawback on the speakers is their size, proper placement can be a challenge. Still, to come a squeezebox and dac/pre. I tried the Emotiva XDA-1. It was OK but didn't add anything over my Adcom pre. I'll try a Bel Canto next and I'm pretty sure I'll like it. I tried to save some money but it didn't work out. I feel lucky that for a realitively small amount of money I have a system that I love and can listen to for hours a day. It helps to be retired! Oh and my wife is happy too.
