Hey all,

We're taking off for the beach for a mini-vaca here in a few days, we'll be staying at the Golden Sands Hotel in Carolina Beach, right on the beach with a pier and tiki-bar, what more can you ask for? I think we're going to tour the USS N.C., and rent a jet-ski for a while, anybody have any other ideas for the area as far as activities, food, nightlife? Thanks in advance!

I have lived in NC for 5 years and have still not made it to the beach yet. Have a great trip.

I have lived here 22 years - never been to the NC beach.

    I really like VA beach.

I make it a point that when I go on vacation I leave North Carolina lol. Although I know the beaches are obbiously way different than the peidmont

I've stayed at the Golden Sands several times. The Tiki Bar is great, especially after around 5:00 or 6:00 when the sun starts to get lower on the horizon. They often have bands out at the end of the pier on the weekends.

Other things to do include a tour of Fort Fisher and the NC Acquarium, located near the Fort.

We did the guided tour of the Fort - takes about 45 min to an hour, and it's great. Our tour guide grew up in Carolina Beach and looked like he could be Billy Bob Thornton's brother! He knew lots of history as well as tales handed down through the generations. I'm not a huge Civil War Buff and still found it fascinating.

Didn't make it to the Acquarium, but I've heard it's pretty good as well.

    Have fun!
