I am having an issue with my projector. Hopefully somebody might have an easy answer.

I have an Optoma HD72 DLP. It will come on and fire up. It goes thru the warm up and finds a source and will show a picture for a brief time. Then it goes black.

Any ideas? I would really appreciate a reasonable fix.

Maybe your settings are wrong on the source ?

Make sure your sending it a 720p signal and experiment with hdmi and composite connections to eliminate faults with the input connections on both source and projector or try swapping out different leads especially hdmi

This blacking out of the picture sounds like the exact same thing that happened to me when I hooked up my ps3 using composite to what I thought was a 720p hdtv but it was only 580p and it caught the signal but dropped it a few seconds after

No, it's not the signal, it was working fine for quite some time with a 1080i signal.

I had a similar issue with my hd250 when I first got it. It would dismay then started cutting in and out then finally nothing. With how my cable was run it got bent a little too much when I redid my set up and just wouldn't pass the signal. I would say just try a short cable to see if that is any sort of issue. After that not sure as if it was the color wheel you wouldnt see anything. Best of luck! Hate it when thing just stop working

Lamp, overheating, motherboard is shot. One of those. If you ok with the coin, I would suggest the upgrade rather than repairing it.
