OK.... wife has a new Silverado 2500HD extended cab.
The stock stereo speakers suck.
The amp in the factory unit is underpowered.
Here is my first question....
Is it a good idea to add a seperate amp to the factory head unit and use the speaker outs as inputs to the amp? I like the factory look of the Delco radio.
2nd question....
What speakers should I install. Brand and Model No.
I've got a 6-1/2" HP Bazooka tube for bass that I'm thinking
of putting in under the rear seat.
Please advise.
Thanks.
Ron

Its also a Duramax Diesel & a stick-shift.
Personally, I think she's compensating for her small ****.
She has requested a boob-job too. Hmmm.
But first, we need to get the tunes sounding good.
What amp is suggested?
What speakers?
Thanks. -
price range?
-Cody -
Price isn't a big stumbling block. I'm shooting more for "best bang for the buck". There is usually a point of limiting returns. The cheap amps aren't a good value and the super expensive ones aren't much better than the moderately expensive ones.
Anyway..... we are talking 4 door speakers and an a 4 channel amp.
Price: $200 amp + 300 for the 4-speakers (estimate).
Something in that range anyway.
Thanks again.
Ron -
so im guessing you want one amp and not 2?
or you could just run the 4x6s off the deck and have the 6 1/2s run off the amp
im bored so ill check out some stuff for ya
are you willing to go ebay?
-Cody -
here we go
Polk DB6500 (6 1/2s for door)
$199
Polk DB460 (4x6s for rear)
$79
amps for speakers
i couldnt get the exact URL for those...one is the power 450s...thats for your 6 1/2s, other is punch160.2....thats for your 4x6s
the 160.2 is optional, its just to boost your rear speakers
wiring kit
$18
if you dont get the 160.2, this is your wiring kit
if you do, get the 4 awg kit, a distro block, few ft of 8awg, and a pair of rca's and youll be good
if you go with the amp for the rears...total cost including wiring $600
no amp for rears, total cost, $465
its going to sound better if you have the rears amped...but if it doesnt really matter, then dont do it...you can always go back and amp them
oo btw...if you wouldve said something about a week ago...crutchfield had an offer(ended the 12th) if you buy 1 pair of db speakers...get the second half off...wouldve saved ya $40
lol
hoped this was the answer you were looking for

Cody,
Thanks a BUNCH dude.
I checked out the crutchfield site and that offer has been EXTENDED until october 12th. So, I'm still good to go for the savings.
I assume that those amps are great - right? I believe the Polk speakers to be very good.
One great thing about my wife is her job. She's a pro at interior vehicle wiring. She works for the Indy police department and sets up all the Crown Victiorias with lightbars, radar, laptop communication, etc. So, putting in the stereo upgrade is a piece-of-cake for her. I just want her to get the components spec'd out good.
Thanks again.

btw...that truck is bad ****...
