Finally a tube intergrated amp.

Bought my first piece of tube gear last night. Thirty or thirty five watt integrated. I've been thinking about venturing into the tube sound for quite a while now and saw one with a brand name that has received some very good reviews and made an offer and the seller accepted. I think it can drive any of my Polks and probably my Advents. My ADS L speakers may need more power. I'm fairly certain that it can't drive my AR9s or AR11s but we'll see.
After I've had a chance to play with it a while I'll reveal the brand and model.
I don't want my hopeful expectations smashed by "thats a crappy amp" comments before I have a chance to decide for myself. It should be here this week.....maybe. I'm looking forward with great expectations to the day it arrives. I don't want to find myself in a situation where I can't listen to anything and regret not trying the glow of the tubes in a dark room.:biggrin:

Good Luck. If you hang around here long enough...these guys will have you buying and swapping out 'tubes' the way Imelda Marcos changed her shoes. Forget about your life, your wife and your 'money'! lol

The Dared intergrated amplifier is playing now. It sounds very nice but I'm not "blown away" by the tube sound as so many others here have been. I'll play it another week before deciding if I really enjoy music more with tubes than SS. Before I put the tube amp in I was using an Adcom preamp and a B&K ST140 power amp. This particular tube amp is not compatible with the MIT speaker cables I have. With these cables connected only to the amp it is seeing some kind of load that causes it to put out power even with the volume turned all the way down
I'm using my Monitor 7s right now and the 30watt output is more than enough. I have a variety of speakers that I can try it with but the large Advents will probably be next. . I'd like to hear the ADS L710s and my AR10s but they aren't very efficient......especially the AR10s. I'm working on a pair of AR9s but I'm thinking of powering them with Adcom 5800s or a couple of 555s.:biggrin:

I love my Monitor 7As and I love vacuum tube amps - but for whatever reason the combination wasn't allthat great. ads L-710s, on the other hand, are dandy with vacuum tube amps - superb on a push-pull EL84 amp (EICO HF-81) and quite respectable with even single-ended 2A3 (3.5 watts per channel).
All just my hardly-humble opinions, of course.
