Thats IT, Im DONE.

Woke up this morning with my liver laying in the bed next to me.

You ever have those nights, where you know you are going a *little* to far, but it doesn't stop you? You know, when you get to the point of say, looking like Belushi pouring mustard on his chest?

Nice to see I didn't post anything TOO out of the ordinary last night. I do vaguely remember standing by the mailbox out front, at about midnight, and puking still-cold beer in the front yard, pausing (and waving) as cars drove by of course.

YEEE-HAW. Who's the motha effer?

Cheers,
Russ 'Cornbread and Iced Tea is the order of the day' Gates

Puked about 3 weeks ago. I ran out of wine and felt as though it wasn't time to stop; so I attempted a couple swigs from a bottle of bacardi gold ... nope, as soon as that vile substance hit the back of my throat, my stomach went into convulsions and expelled all of it's contents. Ugh, the mere thought of it bothers me, even now. Slammed a magnum of merlot last night, though, and I will again tonight. Anticipate, and avoid, some really stupid posts around midnight eastern.

    Russ,

How many times have you said - THATS IT I'M DONE before?
I think I said it at least a dozen or so times in my life.

Anyway, after giving it up for a while, every once in a while, I'll have just one or two. But, ya know what, they don't feel very good (for long anyway), and the icky feeling I get afterwords makes me always wish I hadn't of touched the stuff.

For me, work occasionally buys me a full-fare plane ticket - which means instant upgrade to 1st class (usually) - where the alchohol is FREE. Thats always my undoing. Hard to turn down the stuff at 30K feet when its free.

Anyway, just keep in mind that I'm guessing that you will be "DONE" for about a month. Let us know if I am right or not.

    Thanks.

    Ron

Wow, I'm 23 and I already learned how overrated drinking was. Some people will never learn. Glad you guys enjoy it so much, but why every weekend? To each his\her own I guess. If you don't want to puke why not cut yourself off when you're on your 'special plane'? Thats what I always do.

Ron, you are quite the optimist! You give me a whole month?

Frank, head is fine stomach - entirely different issue. Green apple splatters ALL day.

L&C, read you 'loud and clear'.

D, why so much? It's the only way us non-indy-label guys can cope with the 'mainstream' music.

    ;)

On a serious note, I've really given some thought to toning it down quite a bit. I'm *only* 31, but I need to get my health in order now to cruise right through those mid-40's first heart attack years...

Been thinking about Shane Mann a lot recently, we are coming up on a year since he moved to that big rig in the sky.

I don't puke anymore. I don't puke any less either.

I've tried that wagon thing. It's overrated and it always ends up leaving tire tracks across my body.

I'm sure you just had a bad night and are regretting it. You'll be back to the fold in no time.

P.S. If you are serious about it, PM or E-mail me. Maybe we can help one another. I'm up to about 36 hrs on ocassion, but after that I feel like I deserve it.

Well this is a subject I have much expierience in. I hesitate to respond because when I use to read things like this I would in my mind say he cant handle it or what a wuss or how weak is he? Well after years and years of saying Ive had enough, this **** is killing me, I cant go on like this etc. etc. etc. I finally got to the point where I couldnt go on any more like that and decided to quit. My problem was that I had 2 cars in the garage a nice home a good paying job 2 boys and a wife who seemed happy and I seemed to be functioning just fine in life, how could I have a problem, right? Until the wife divorced me, lost the house, the boys, the car, the job, went bankrupt got hooked on crack and crack whores and almost died. Well today 2 years and 1 month since quitting I have my 2 boys, a good job, a house, a truck, a killer 2 channel rig, and peace inside, no more mornings from hell, no more of those feelings we all get the next day. It didnt have to go that far for me and if I would have realized when I use to read other stories like this that yes it could happen to me and accepting the fact that I am an alcoholic and CANNOT drink ever again it wouldnt have gone that far. So I feel the pain and hope none of you have to go through my pain. Have a nice day!

Russ - I feel your pain brother, but damned if I don't enjoy tying one on also :)

Scott- That was very bold and honest of you to state those things. I admire your intestinal fortitude, and wish you luck in the future with your children...the stereo children also ;)

I simply don't drink like I did when I was in High School....and its works just fine.

Thats a good 'taper off', check it out...

Returned at the old house, "as my 3 year old calls it", and I was pleased ta find 4 beers... I dug in. That said, 4 beers later was not enough for the HBomb and he asked his wife to run up the street for another 'six:D ' and she did:p

in 7 months hbombtwo is out of the oven and I'd be screwed with out her. "She has managed this whole process without a flaw!" What a WOMAN is all I can conjure up at this point. I missed hbombone the first go around because of all the travel involved but this time she'll be asking me to travel.

    Our lager,
    Which art in barrels,
    Hallowed be thy drink.
Thy will be drunk, (I will be drunk),
At home as it is in the pub.
Give us this day our foamy head,
    And forgive us our spillages,
As we forgive those who spill against us.
And lead us not to incarceration,
    But deliver us from hangovers.
For thine is the beer, The bitter and The lager.
    Forever and ever.
