Speaker Wiring Verification...

I have a set of RT16s for mains and RT12s for surrounds. The low frequency/midbass from the RT12's is much stronger than my RT16s and I was wondering if there is a way to tell if the speakers are wired correctly internally? Just want to make sure they are not wired backwards...Please help.

I think that's just how the RT12's are. My dad has a pair of them and they put out phenomenal amounts of bass. I love the sound, but I can almost guarantee it's not accurate. It sounds like somebody hit the bass boost on those speakers. So in my opinion, what you're experiencing is normal. By the way, are you Jason from the old forum? Just wondering.

Yup...that's me. How ya doin Aaron? What are you runnin these days for speakers? Polks or somethin else?

Cool! I figured it was you. Not many people have those RT16's, especially not coupled with RT12 rears! Yep, I'm still running Polks. I did put together a new system for my bedroom. I picked up a used pair of RT55's, Sanus stands, Carver C-2 pre, and Yamaha M-50 amp. I'm using my Sony ES CD player for the source. I've also been experimenting with horizontal bi-amping using the Yamaha amp and another Sony amp that was laying around. The system sounds pretty good, especially for what I have in it. Take care, man. I hope to see you around here more often!

I love my RT16's and RT12's together with my CS350LS. I am driving it all with a Parasound AVC2500 Pre/Pro and a Parasound 2205 220 x 5 amp, with a Klipsch SW12 Series II sub. It is hella wonderful. Those new LSi series speakers look tempting, but I just love my RT series stuff. Doesn't Polk make a non-powered tower speaker anymore? The tall speakers come ONLY with powered subs anymore. I like the concept of driving a seperate sub.

It sounds like you have a really nice system with some mad power behind it! Sweet! I'm definitely going to be checking out the new LSi stuff. The LSi15 is not a powered tower. It uses an 8" woofer. Also in the RT line the RT600i and RT800i are non-powered towers. As most people on the forum know, I'm not very big on the powered tower thing, so I'm very pleased to see that Polk is offering the LSi15.

..you DON'T like powered towers? I hadn't noticed. heh,heh,heh.
