Questions on projector...

I was going through the Future Shop flyer at work this evening and saw a sale for a projector. Sale price is $1999CDN, resolution is 800x600. Yeah, I know it's not considered high end. I'm not that picky about picture quality. I'd take size over quality.
Here's my question: How big of a picture can they project from about 10.5 to 11ft? The farthest I can place it is about 12 ft. Also, how much do cheap screens cost?

    You could go 100" or bigger but the picture quality on PJ with 800x600 is going to be hard to live with. The screen door effect will be easy to see. Do search for Ron-P's thread about experience with his first low-end PJ. His first PJ was approx. the same resolution and he returned it rather quickly after using it with a much smaller screen. Also check out the PJ forums (under $5K, USD) at WWW.AVSForum.com.

    I just went to futureshop.ca and they have the Epson S1 for $1400CDN. I don't have the money for a $5k projector. I read some reviews on the Epson where it was compared to other similarly priced pj's and the reviewer thought the Epson was best. The pj has some technology built in to minimize the screen door effect. So it looks like I'll be gettin the Epson. It's low end but it should be much better and much BIGGER than my 27" Wega. The bigger size should enhance my video games, movies and of course, get me up close and personal with my favorite adult film stars:).

    You can find a good Barco 800 for around $1000. They were originally $15K+. You have to look at them though. If you ever get in the mood for one let me know and I'll give you some tips on what to look for. They are big though.

    Thank dude, I'll have to think about that. Are you sure it's $1K? How did the price drop so low from the original 15K? The only problem is size. My mother gave me **** when I told her I wanted to get a pj and only when I told her how small the Epson was that she finally calmed down. She's still pissed off about it though. I should be able to get a pj by Christmas. I'm selling the Sony to my brother and I'll be taking my vacation in Dec (Vacation pay:)). Of course my vacation will be in the mancave:D. I'll let you know if I decide to get a Barco.
