Anyone know anything about these. 3 way 10" from HH Scott?

I know from searching AudioKarma that many consider the HH Scott S-15--which I believe is the smaller brother of the S-11s a decent speaker. I'm interested in hearing the 11s, price is 40 or less local.

What do you guys think? Just trying to add to the vintage collection--not looking for the 'best' but 'good' is OK.

Thanks,

    Bump....

And while I'm at it. Anyone have any Snell JII bookies....? Two way 8" and 1 inch soft dome--mid-to late 80s model. What do ya think?

    Thanks

I have a pair of S-11, I'm using them in my basement as test speakers. If I get a used receiver or amp, I run them through the Scott's. They sound pretty good, are you looking to buy a pair?

Surprisingly good sounding speakers given their extremely pedestrian design and (seemingly) mediocre CTS cone drivers. I had a pair of dump-find S-15s and was actually stunned by how pleasantly musical they were. Gave them to a local teacher for her classroom.

The S-15, at least, was also fairly sensitive (had them hooked up to a Maggotbox - umm, Magnavox - console hifi EL84pp amp when they were in the basement).

What don't you have? My 11's really don't sound bad when paired with a receiver a little on the bright side. With a Marantz, I find them muddy sounding.

I'll defer comment on (vintage soiled state) Marantzes...

The S-15s were dump finds and passed through for a while before finding a better home (i.e., someplace where they'd be used regularly).

Plenty of stuff I don't have... some of which you do! :-)

My S-11's were a $7.00 find, I wish I had some tube gear to power them. My old solid state will have to work for now.

    Thanks guys.

Yeah I'm going to pick up a pair of these and maybe run them with an old Kenwood KR-5400 or a Sansui 5000A for a while. Two vintage silver faces 45w and 55w x 2 respectively. At least for now.

Am also considering these as 'test' speakers. Great minds think alike? OK, 'good' minds, perhaps.

    mhardy...great info as usual!!

Cayuga--nice condition on the S-11s. I hope mine look that good--the pics seem to be OK?

    Thanks,
