Rain's a coming, get out your effigy's, do the rain dance, sacrifice a virgin. The Weather Channel is predicting a tropical wave off the coast of the Yucatan will move north and might become a tropical storm to give ya'll some much needed relief from the drought, or course alot of it would be awful, but good luck!!

If you pray for rain, you gotta put up with the mud.

    Good luck over there.

Don't forget the Texas skeeters....but I hope this one heads straight for us.

My buddy has a tunneling company for plumbers...been busy as $hit in our area from pipes breaking on the house shifts due to the draught.

My wife was nagging me for breaking the water conservation rules when I water the lawn...I told her I had no problem paying the fines....then a news report came out in the paper this morning ...now she gets it....women???

This storm was an absolute joke. The eye came just about directly over my area and there was hardly ANY rain. Texas swallowed up that little thing for dinner and had it digested by breakfast. Don literally evaporated within a few hours after making landfall on our coast. It was definitely the absolute most bizarre tropical storm/hurricane I've ever witnessed.

Are you actually FROM corpus or the surrounding area? I grew up in Sinton. My mom said they got like a tenth of rain. We didnt see anything here. My brother east of Houston got a little.

    Big disappointment.

Yeah I'm from the surrounding area (Alice to be exact), about 40 miles west and a tad bit south of Corpus. It rained real lightly off and on most of the night, but I think we received no more than 1/2 an inch. Another tropical storm would be real nice right after all the cotton is harvested. Haven't ever seen so many people so disappointed about a storm dying down like that before.

That's why I always put my windshield shades up and remote start the truck :)

On my way home on the bike, it was literally cooler to close my visor than to ride with it open and the hot **** air coming in. Took the wife's car out somewhere, it said 109*. I surely thought it was because it had been sitting out in the sun.

Nope, it went up to 110* after we had drove around a bit.

We Texans still have something to be proud of though:

After having dug to a depth of 100 feet last year, New York scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago.

Not to be outdone by the New Yorkers, a California archaeologist dug to a depth of 200 feet and shortly after, a story in the LA Times read: "California archaeologists' discovery of 200-year-old copper wire, have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a hundred years earlier than the New Yorkers."

One week later, a local newspaper in Texas reported the following: "After digging as deep as 300 feet in his pasture, RuSsMaN, a self-taught archaeologist, reported that he found absolutely nothing. RuSsMaN has therefore concluded that Texas had already gone wireless 300 years ago."

You'll get a hurricane before October, that's about the only shot ya'll get the way the 'puter models look :frown:, it's weird how that high pressure keeps oscillating around, motorboating around the south like a bad SS amp, then poof, magic smoke.

We're about to start building a house on Lake Corpus Christi right now. Last summer it wasn't getting nearly as hot as it is this summer. Well, I remember seeing the temp. of the water in that area getting up to 95 degrees and it literally felt like a hot tub. I haven't been out there in about a month, mostly because it's getting really low, but I can't even IMAGINE how hot it is now. I wouldn't be surprised to see the water temp. up near 100 degrees in the more shallow areas. It really is pretty sad.
