tweeters

I'm having trouble finding replacement tweeters for my t15 bookshelfs which I have blown for the second time due to overpowering. Back in March they cost only $50.88 shipped, but now four months later they cost $67.81 which is what I paid for my m10's. I'm willing to upgrade or find any tweet with the same outside diameter (3 7/16). I work in a loud machine shop and will not turn the volume down!

Sounds like you just need more powerful speakers....My Stereo: Tannoy D100s, Yaqin MC-100B, VPI Traveler, Dynavector 10x5 MC Phono Cartridge, heavily modified Yaqin MS-22B phono preamp, TEAC EQA-20 equalizer, Belkin PureAV PF30 Power Conditioner, Canare 4s11 speaker cables, Custom dust cover from DigitalDeckCovers

I think his tweeters blew due to under powering them by driving the amp to clipping. A lot of people do this and blame the speakers.

Definitely could be that, rebuy....
What are the power ratings of your speakers and amp, Greg?My Stereo: Tannoy D100s, Yaqin MC-100B, VPI Traveler, Dynavector 10x5 MC Phono Cartridge, heavily modified Yaqin MS-22B phono preamp, TEAC EQA-20 equalizer, Belkin PureAV PF30 Power Conditioner, Canare 4s11 speaker cables, Custom dust cover from DigitalDeckCovers -
Thanks for the reply. My receiver is an older fisher rated at 80 wpc and 0.9% thd. Should be clean enough for a speaker rated at 100 watts max. I'm just trying to salvage what I have before I buy something better. I also burned up my Advent baby II's (6 ohm?). This is a labor of love. Rock on!

Considering that you're using an old Fisher that is likely very overrated in power and has a high THD spec, I would suggest that rebuy is correct--your amp is clipping and destroying your tweeters. That receiver is definitely not enough to run 6 ohm Advents.
Whatever you end up doing, you might want to consider turning the volume down until you are able to supply cleaner power. It will cost you a lot less in the long run.

Yep sounds like an underpowered amp.
How far do you have the receiver turned up when listening? What are you using for a source (iPod, CD player, et c.) and at what level is that played? My Stereo: Tannoy D100s, Yaqin MC-100B, VPI Traveler, Dynavector 10x5 MC Phono Cartridge, heavily modified Yaqin MS-22B phono preamp, TEAC EQA-20 equalizer, Belkin PureAV PF30 Power Conditioner, Canare 4s11 speaker cables, Custom dust cover from DigitalDeckCovers -
It's the Fisher doing it. It isn't strong enough or clean enough for those speakers.
You will just continue to kill tweeters.
