The sound of my speakers (RTA 8Ts) have undergone a couple of transformations since the mod. I haven't put 100 hours on yet, but have been running them a lot.

At first, there was little change, then they seemed more "alive" but the mids (mostly vocals) sounded a little distant. Now things seem to be more even. Is this usually the case after a modification?

Brighter sound, but still fast and accurate. Seems to have a bigger soundstage, but have lost the warmth (especially in vocals) that I have been accustomed to.

Actually, they seem to be better for HT now. I am curious to know if Mylar caps are inherent to a warmer sound or was it just my speakers?

    What parts did you use?

EDIT: Do you still have the original tweeters installed?

They were inexpensive Bennic high pass and low pass poly caps. Yes, the original tweeters remain.

I would replace the tweeters first with a pair of RD0-194's from Polk, they are a much better tweeter all around and will fix your brightness issue.

Although, Bennics are inherently a tad bright. If Polk's new tweeters do not fix your issue, try some Claritycaps in the HF circuit instead.

Sounds like a plan. I don't hate the sound now. It's just different than what I have been use to.

Will give them more time and see what happens. I like the thought of just replacing the tweeter instead of having to go through all that again. That said, it was kinda fun.

You need about 100hrs of burn in on new caps before they settle down and smooth out.
