Polk Monitor 7 Speakers

I have a Pair of Monitor 7 Speakers (7 C I think) one of them has no sound from the mw 6502 driver, I suspect the magnet, coil is frozen.
Can I purchase a new driver from Polk or should I SEEK A USED driver?
The driver measures 3.7 ohms.

Call Polk and find out.I got static in my head
The reflected sound of everything -
I have checked Ebay posts and am not comfortable with the prices and packaging for shipment.

+1 CALL POLK!!!!

Mention you are on Club Polk for a discountI got static in my head

$48.00 shipped for CP members, cheap enuff?
-
$48.00 from CP sounds good, better than a $70.00 plus shipping from ebay, and taking a risk on something DOA, thanks!
-
Yeah the eBay prices have gone thru the roof. Eventually they'll come down when sales drop. We need to get the word out elsewhere that they are available from Polk, and the $48 price as well.
If any of you guys can do that where you go it would be great.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Now you must send me the frozen one for $5.00 + packing & shipping! Just kidding, but I would like to have it.
-
I am in need of one also and recently checked; Polk has plenty of 6502 in stock. I have been eyeing the ones on EB but haven't jumped on them for the reasons mentioned above. Their price is too close to new.
With nothing to loose, I might play with aligning my frozen woofer. If it doesn't work buy one from Polk.

$48 sounds more like a "score". Some shipping charges on e-bay can make the seller more than what he/she makes on what they sell.TO ERR IS HUMAN. TO FORGIVE IS CANINE. -
And the $48 from Polk is free shipping.Stan

yep i agree, but there are bargains to be had and you must have patients. I just bought 2 mw6510's for 28.00+shipping came to 40.00 for the pair looked brand new. I put them in my SDA2a jammed them real good GREAT DEAL. I took them out put the originals back in so know i have 3 spares. I've seen these sell for upwards of 65.00 each + shipping.. crazy bidding -
Just contacted Polk, they have MW6502 drivers in stock, $60.00 price but Club Polk Discount is 20%. With Club Polk Discount and Tax for Texas total is $51.84 with free shipping. Good deal even with the Tax.
I have not had any success re-seating the magnet and driver; better to replace with new drivers. -

It's not hard to do if you make a jig up like the one pictured in the thread at AK, I have sucessfully salvaged about 10 MWs so far.

GBD - If I cover shipping I'd like to see one of your repaired ones and get it on the Klippel machine at HQ. that is very cool Mark as I think it would be very informative to us all. If this goes through please post for all to see. I'm thinking that the magnets are magnetized after gluing and may be some phasing issues if not spot on the regluing -
All my Monitor 7's and 10's use the 6500 driver, so I'm curious as to how close the specs are with the 6502. I've seen a spec sheet in a thread, but can not find it with search feature. Would there be a significant sonic difference or ohm load difference in the two? On the 10's I would replace a pair at a time at least and not have one odd driver in the mix.2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer.

Looks like the 6500 is 8ohm and the 6502 is 4 ohm so I don't think that would work in my application.2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer. -
