FXi A6 vs Energy's CR-10

Hi all,

Contemplating between Polk's FXi A6 or Energy's CR-10 for side surrounds. I currently have RTi A3's for front, CSi A6 for Centre, and RTi A1's for rears.

Would the CR-10's fit in with this setup or should I go with the FXi A6's?

If I stay with FXi A6 it's obviously timbre matched to the rest of my system but would it make that much of a difference if I went with Energy's speakers?

The pro's of the Energy's are they are smaller and would fit where I need to mount them better than the FXi's but I still could mount the FXi's. Both have diople vs biople switches.

Anyone have experience with the Energy's?

Thanks,
Babber

I haven't heard either speaker, but I'd say this really has to do with the 'what if' factor. I'd stay with the Polks because you'll never ask yourself 'what if' I had gone with the Polks for matching surrounds. Plus you'll have matching speakers all around, sound and looks. Just my .02, good luck.

You dont need to timbre match surrounds to your mains. The only exceptions I can think of would be going from Horn's to Dome tweeters. That might create a bit of a problem IMHO.

But not a problem in this case. So use whatever suits ya best and ENJOY!

If space is an issue, why not look at the FXi-A4? I have the older version (FX300i) and love them. They are also quite a bit smaller than the bigger brothers.

I second this good mans advice. I had the 4's and upgraded to the 6's and did not believe the size difference.

The A4's sound great by the way, they are no slouch.
