A while back a friend had mentioned the Alvin Lee CD "Pure Blues" to me telling me that it had some really good reviews. The other thread about "A Space in Time" release made me start thinking about the Pure Blues release , so I went ahead and ordered it. I haven't received my copy yet, does anyone own it or have any comments ? While I was on Amazon I was also tempted to pick up the CD "Alvin Lee in Tennesee". Likewise does anyone own this one ? Thanks in advance for commentary. Cheers.

I own pure blues, and love it, you cant compare it to a space in time, as it covers blues he has done with TYA, and some of his solo stuff, another good one is the Road to Freedom, and Pumping Iron. Pure Blues is one I have not listened to in a while but will have to now, enjoy your copy.

George - Now that you mention it, also in my queue of things to watch is the 40th anniversary of Woodstock Director's Cut. I would have to say Woodstock was arguably Alvin's defining moment. Not to mention the memorable moments provided by Santana and Hendrix.

Ill have to check this one out since I haven't heard any Alvin recordings since the mid seventies. Another defining moment of Woodstock to me was the Canned Heat performance. Those guys could flat out boogie.

On the Road to Freedom is the 1973 album by Alvin Lee and Mylon LeFevre. Guest musicians include George Harrison, Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Mick Fleetwood, and Ron Wood. It was recorded at George Harrison's studio . Highly recommended.
If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

Yep-- I remember that one--actually-- truth be told,, Mylon lived down the street from us--and his family "The Singing LeFevre's"--Southern Gospel-- they had their own bus too.

Definitely will look into this. I am guessing this is only available on vinyl. When you said George Harrison, you said the magic words. Thanks. Cheers.

Never heard "On the Road to Freedom". I will have to give it a listen. I never knew Alvin Lee worked with Harrison, Winwood, Jim Capaldi, and Rebob. This should be an interestinh listen.

Also, let's not forget the performances by The Who and Sly and the Family Stone at Woodstock. But, as stated the Santana and Hendrix performances were spectacular as well.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Picked up On the Road to Freedom along with the CD Alvin Lee in Tennessee with some Amazon Christmas gift cards. I have to say after reading the liner notes it looked like an all star cast. After listening I wasn't too impressed, I thought the songs were a little flat. I liked the "Tennessee" album a lot more. Definitely old school boogie, R&B and rockabilly. Nothing too serious just a lot of fun tunes done up with some real nice Hammond B-3 and minimalist guitar work. Very nice.
