LaFayette and Technics

Went on the hunt today and came home with two nice vintage units, a Lafayette LR-9090 and a Technics SL-1401. The Lafayette is a beast of a receiver, the Sl-1401 is also a heavy little table. I can post some pictures if people would like.

I would like to see your pictures, you seem to find goods I haven't seen before. It helps me to learn. Thanks Dan

I'll put some up, I don't know if I have to start a new thread or if I can attach to this one.
-
I hope I did this correctly.
-
yup, you did.
The LR-9090 is held in some esteem... wasn't there just a discussion on it here? :-P
The Technics is perfectly decent, too, I am sure.

Thanks, I thought you might like.

I don't have either one :-)
I do have a dump find Lafayette LR-1500T...
... and used to have a Technics SL-1600 (my son actually still has a nice SL-1650, the fully automatic record stacker version thereof)...
-
The dump find looks pretty nice, my understanding is that's not your only dump find.
-
The small New England town dumps are wonderful places. They're the social and political hub of the town. Best of all, many of the small town dumps still have "take it or leave it"/"Yankee swap" piles or tables - it's like Boxing Day, every Saturday!
-
My wife keeps trying to get me to move to Vermont, she's a Green Mountain girl class of 78. Maybe I should give it a try, I like a good weekend fight at the dump.
-
We'll be retiring to New Hampsha... yes, both states are unbelievably beautiful.
This is the view to the southeast at our property in NH...

That brings back memories - my first 'real' receiver was a low-end Lafayette - all of 15Watts/channel, but with the same style knobs.
Dang...way back...

I missed out on a Lafayette LR-3030 last week. The LR-9090 is the big boy, I am very interested in the way it sounds. Very nice pick up, I think this receiver has a very clean, attractive, vintage look. Cheers. -
This is what i was talking about Cayuga.Ive only seen the brown faced Lafayettes nice pickup again. Dan

No problem Dan, let the club know what you would like to see I'm sure everyone would post pictures.

The LR9090 was my first receiver! It sits in my basement right now along side of a second one I got off of ebay for some parts. One thing I remember is its ability to offer a lot of current output, used to be able to dim the lights on some good bass hits. Not many receivers beat it in the looks department either, its beautiful!Vinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... -
She is pretty, I need to open it up and do some cleaning. After doing a quick test, no problems so far. A very lucky find for me.

Cayuga, Between yourself and Mr. mhardy6647, I do quite a bit of reading along with the regular posts.I do enjoy your posts, you both seem to find things I don't see in my area . Dan

Dan, I like the hunt as much as anything about vintage equipment. I meet a lot of interesting people and see some great vintage gear. I'm glad you like my stuff and I'm not even close to the level of gear and knowledge that Mhardy has.
