Nice one Mike... you drop this stinky thread on us, knowing it would only create a SHCIITstorm. Thank god they dont make cables.

It's got excellent reviews, great aesthetics and the build quality under the hood is top notch. My only complaint is that there was no reason they couldn't have figured out another name and the quirkiness, ads and smiles just aren't that funny. The sole reason I would simply move on to another brand, seriously....it's just dumb.
Agreed Mark, but it wasn't enough to scare me away! It isn't written on the device from anything I can see. Just a logo, which I can handle. It just says BIFROST on the front. I just pre-ordered one!
It will be my first external DAC and it has Asynch USB at 24/192!!! I figured it is worth a shot, and if for some reason I don't like it, I can sell it used or return it minus shipping and %5...
I probably shouldn't say this since I just bought one and it will fuel the fire, but I wonder if their support email is schiitdontwork@schiit.com

Wow! I sure hope not
It seems like a decent DAC based on a decent chip. I should hopefully have it for the LSiM 703 demo at my house!! We will see then. I have never owned an external DAC and I am hoping some other folks will bring some other DACs to test and compare. We shall see! Other than their crazy name, they really do seem like a good company that makes nice gear. I typically stick VERY much with time proven used gear, as can be seen by my signature, but this one just tempted me too much for a budget DAC and USB interface.

Don
Awesome Don, let us know how it sounds...or doesn't. Is this in preperation for the LSiM or just because you wanted a new toy? : - )CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -

Honestly? A little of both... I have always wanted a external DAC, and this LOOKS good on paper, which we all know only tells parts of the story. I am really hoping to have some other DACs to compare it to at the demo to really see if it is up to snuff! If there other products are any indication of there quality and value, this SHOULD be a great performing product at its price point and probably at least one major bracket or 2 up from it pricewise. I guess we will find out!

Does anyone know if this supports 88.2 and 176.4? I have an email into support, I was just curious if someone else had already asked.

Looks like a slight delay on shipping these, but I should have mine soon! Anyone else got one yet?
I do have 2 of their headphone amps, the Asgard and the Valhalla, and they're both fantastic. I don't know how the Bitfrost will compare to my MF V-DAC, but I'll keep them both, I'll keep the better one here on the headphone rig at home and move the other to the office. The guys at work love my Asgard, them cracking jokes about my Schiit never gets old.
I actually disagree with Mark, I think the name IS a reason to buy their product, its a nice conversation piece. The fact that they sound good is still primary, but alot of stuff sounds good... -
I am still waiting for my Bifrosft with USB also... I ordered a Valhalla today to go with the the BeyerDynamic DT 770 Pro (250 Ohm) I just picked up. I needed closed back for isolation at work... The 600 ohm in the 770 flavor seem to have seriously rolled off bass! Pretty excited about the combo. I will be running it out of my laptop at work sourced from Foobar 2000 going out through HRT Music Streamer II... Should be a pretty decent combo!
The Bifrost will be run in my 2-Channel rig.

Wyred 4 Sound will be coming out with some more affordable DAC's soon, hopefully they'll be competitive with the Schiit mentioned here."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. Hey Assimilated,
How do you like that 880T compared to the 650HD?
Regards,

The beyers are more lively than the senns. The senns have better bass, everything else is better on the beyers for me.SolidSqual wrote: »Hey Assimilated,

The senns have a laid back sound with strong bass response.
The beyers are more forward and although they're not as strong with low frequencies I do prefer their overall sound and they're more fun to listen to for me -
