car sub at home ?
I have a spare almupro bp-12 that goes REAL good in the car ( it makes my headliner slap against the roof) .
I just wonder has anybody tried a BUILT car sub with a externall amp in home for movies ?
Maybe something like a bandpass design ???

I had a dual 10" bandpass that I tried for the fun of it. Bandpass isn't very good for home audio. It is a one trick pony with very limited range. Yes it thumped but it all kinda sounded the same.
I would bet a nice ported box with a kickbutt car audio speaker would do fine but not a bandpass. -

maxes out at 126.5 db at 100 hz its 3 db down at 47 hz probebly 3 more db down at 37 hertz .
I found in a car 40 hertz is about as low as you can get , so the bp12 kinda fits that , the specs I read on it were "basses sound a little mushy but for rock and roll this thing really cranks" .
Another thing the sub is really effeciant (like 95 db spl) .
I figure in a living room the added space would add some low frequency response , I dont know thats why I asked .
I guess what I should do is try it in the living room I run a test disc (stryke)
and record the response using a decible meter .
I have heard bandpasses that are really limited to a tuned frequency and fall apart bad trying anything , I heard a bandpass the one with the 2 12" drivers angled with a plexi front , it had 2 JL audio 12's it actually went quiet at 40 hertz , unlike the bp-12 it seems to give a wide range for a bandpass .
