Hi there all!
I'm new to this forum and in need of some help!

I recently ordered an Onkyo 7.2 (ht-rc 360) av receiver and was very interested in the tsi line of speakers. I did my research on these tsi's and love them. The only thing is I'm not sure I have everything pegged to what i exactly want to what will be efficient. I do want amazing sound but if there is an unnecessary speaker size then i would like to know that its not worth it.

I was very interested in the TSi 500's cherry finish....drool. And with the PSW 505 12" sub. Also to match the huge towers i would have to go with the TSi CS20 to match. What my main question is, is that i went to the store to look at the TSi 200's and use them as the surrounds. But they are REALLY big. Seeming like they aren't meant for surround but more of a smaller size 2 channel. In the store they had the TSi 100's on display as surround. Do you think that I should bother with the TSi 200's?

Let me know thx!!!!

Quick suggestion and that only. The Monitor series is cheaper and about the same as the TSi's.

You can save a bundle and get just about the same speakers. Newegg.com sells them at a very good price.

So using the Monitor setup would be this:

    Fronts: Monitor 70's
    Center: CS2
    Surrounds: Monitor 30's
Sub: (suggest spending a bunch of your savings here) PSW505 or even better DSW subs (check Polks ebay site for refurbs at a discounted rated with a manufacture warranty)

ok good stuff but I'm currently already getting a deal with all the speakers through whole sale and I'm set with the TSi series. Just wanting it to be future proof plus the TSi series are the only ones i seen tested. The PSW 505 is also set cause i seen that one too. I agree with your choice of the cs2. It's just the TSi 100's or 200's I'm not 100% sure on. If I have a good sub and good towers do i bother with TSi 200?

Welcome to Club Polk! The 100s would serve well in a surround role. Most of your dynamics occur up front, but even so, I think the 100 is still a pretty capable speaker. Either way, you're probably going to set a crossover of about 80Hz..., so you'll be fine.

Sounds like you've done your research...you've made some good decisions already. The TSi500's with the CS20 will make for a very solid front end for your system, and the PSW505 is one of the best bang for the buck subs out there IMO. For the prices they can be had for these days, it's a no brainer for someone who's just getting into HT.

As far as the surrounds go, if you have the space I'd say go for the TSi200's. The TSi100's would still work very well, but the TSi200's have a slightly fuller, warmer sounding midrange in my experience. The 200's also use a D'appolito array(tweeter in the center with a midwoofer on both the top and the bottom), which contributes to a much smoother more balanced overall sound. The 200's also have deeper bass extension which allows them to blend with the sub more effortlessly.

Either the 100's or the 200's would be an excellent choice, but if the extra money and size constraints aren't of any concern, I'd go for the 200's personally.

ok would it also be wise to maybe mix match since it is a 7.1 capable setup. What mean is could I also have an option of going tsi 200 for surrounds and maybe tsi 100's for surround back or would that distort anything?

Doesnt matter. You dont even have to have the same brand surrounds as your front three (notice I use Inifinity surrounds).

So you could even use TSi 100's for both rear and side surrounds.

Personally I used Monitor 40's (which the TSi 200's replaced) as surrounds and they were just too much overkill so I switched them w/ the Infinity's....

Another thing to consider, is the size of the listening area. If you have a small area like mine(13'x17'), 7.1 is pretty much a waste. 5.1 would suffice.

Nice choice of speakers. Best bang for the buck, IMO.

Thanks! What I plan on doing is buying all 7.1 speakers and only setup 5.1 cause i live in a smaller basement, and when i move out I'll use the other speakers as 7.1. Future proof right?
