You after you get it all connected and set up.

Does it make me old that I remember those commercials? Worse, I remember a movie staring John Ritter where they did a parody of the commercial where the guy in the chair's head came off for "MaxHell"?

I don't think my kids know what a cassette is... :(

Well, the amp is in the mail... and I come home after an all-nighter working on a friend's bathroom remodel and my 6 month old Onkyo TX-NR708 won't respond to the remote, or any remote, even after hard resets. I hop online and find out it's a known issue with many of the 2010 model year Onkyo/Integra receivers. So now I get to ship my receiver back under warranty on my dime to California and have an amp but no receiver... %$#****@#!

For those of you with a 2010 Onkyo/Integra product, you may want to view this press release:

Just hooked up my Adcom GFA-5500 to my RTi12's last night. Both my Onkyo NR708 and my Marantz SR6005 definitely weren't doing these speakers justice. Even at low volumes you can hear a definite difference, especially in the amount of and clarity of the bass... wow.

    Can I mix 2 amps for 7.1 set up? 2 channel adcom or parasound for front Rti's 12 and the xpa-5 for center Csi5, surrounds/back M60's & 70's?

No reason why you couldn't as long as you have the pre-outs for them. I let the receiver handle the center, surrounds and rear surrounds, which seems to work better when I don't have 2, 500w RMS speakers sucking it's power supply dry.

I have a B&K powering my mains and a Emotiva powering center, surrounds and rears. My Onkyo basically functions as a Pre / Pro. It doesn't power anything now. I'm happy with the function and sound of the system.

You can see some of the pictures in the Showcase (Sig link), for examples.

What B&K amp do you recommend for my rti12's? Once i get a new 2 channel amp i'll be moving the xpa5 to handle center and surrounds/back.

Well, my little ST2140 is rated at 140 watts and does a decent job on the RTi's.

    I didn't try the Ref 125.2 S2 on the Rti's (rated at 125 watts)

I did try the reference 4420 (rated 225 watts), and thought it was better for music but for HT, there wasn't much of a difference. I also preferred to use this amp in my 2ch bi amp system on the woofer of the Audes. So it never made it back into the HT rack.

I did try my Adcom GFA 5800 (rated at 250 watts) on the RTi's. They sounded good but I preferred the sound of the B&K on the RTi's. The Adcom seemed to make everything bit brighter, which is why I went back to the B&K.

So, 125 to 150 watts will do fine, but as usual 200 watts would be a bit better. I'm not going to be model specific, but you should have no qualms about buying used (if you can look at the inside for leaking caps). B&K's build quality is top notch and their amps last for years. If your looking for newer models, I got my 125.2 S2 for about $500 used from a local polkie. It would be fine, but if you have upgrade-it is you may want more power.

Here's a link to the B&K Manuals. That will let you consider what model you might be interested in whether it is from the current line or from the past.

Hey guys, I'm a noob to home theater but use to be pretty into it back in the late 70s early 80s. My boss just gave me a old Panasonic Htib and just gods I ordered my first new speakers since 1983! I live in an apt and space requires small size and budget requires bang for buck. I just ordered the Rti-A1's and can't wait till they get here. My question is about how do you break inner speakers? My last new ones were JBL L150's and really wasn't much break in, just hook them up and go!

Not sure on the A1, I know the bigger RTi's with the 7" woofers are 80 hours use minimum to break in, 200 or so to complete break in. The A1 has just the 5.25" mid so I'd imagine the surrounds would be less stiff and would break in faster.

There's an enormous difference in sound in my RTi12's from when I first got them to now (couple months). The first time I hooked them up I had to run out the door after only setting one of them up, and all I could really hear was the treble and not much else. The mids opened up first then the woofers took quite a bit longer.
