Can someone tell me their thoughts on these speakers? There is a pair local to me for $75 (w/Monster Cables!) that appear to be in very good shape. I have never owned any of the "newer" Polk speakers.

    Hello Gary,
The RT800 was one of my personal favorites when I worked for Polk. It always seemed well balanced across the frequency spectrum. I believe the double mid-range bass drivers resulted in low distortion. For a selling price of less than a good meal for two, I would "break like the wind" and scoop them up.
    Cheers, Ken

    Yes. Exactly what Ken said.

THanks guys! I might go pick them up today.

So whats the difference, some have the blueish looking drivers while some don't. The blue ones the "i" series?

Most of the differences were with the tweeter, most people felt the "i" version had a slightly smoother treble response. Less small resonant peaks to reduce listener fatigue. The blue/gray drivers I don't believe translates to much difference, different plastic supplier. You might want to check with Kim at Polk CS, email kjasper@polkaudio.com or telephone 1-800-377-7655 extension 208 for more details. He can also tell you about replacement tweeters and drivers
    availability, if needed.
Make sure everything is working, parts could be limited.
    Cheers, Ken

Awesome deal at that price. I am currently running them as my fronts on my HT and they sound good.

I am waiting to hear back from her now about these. Maybe I can pick them up this afternoon or tomorrow. I did just buy some more Elemental Designs speakers though. The wife probably won't be happy with yet another pair of speakers in the house. lol

I had a pair of the 800I's, nice looking and sounded great. Used them in my HT with a 400I center and 600I in the back, it was a nice vintage HT setup.
