Watch where you walk and when you walk there. Dangerous, depressed area, not to mention....... it is New Jersey! Cape May would be nicer!

well, my lady wanted to go there....not sure why but I agreed

Long Beach Island is nice too. (for NJ anyway)

Yes, tons of suggestions. Depends on what you want to do and what kind of time you have.
You like historic sites? Do you want to do state parks? How far do you want to travel?
Some more info would help me out alot.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

She isn't much on history or shopping....likes fun foods...nice beaches...lighthouses -
Take the ferry to Delaware for better beaches, keep going till you hit Ocean City MD for some crabs and good seafood, ditch NJ altogether! S'posed to be 1 or 2 good restaurants in Cape May also.

Barnegat Light, north end of Long Beach Island.
Take any main bridge off the Island that Atalntic City is on. Then take either the Parkway, north (tolls) or Route 9 north (no tolls but traffic lights, series of small towns, nice drive if you're not pressed for time) and head over to Route 72 in Manahawkin. Exit 63 on the Parkway, signs all over on Route 9. Can't miss it, it's the only way on to LBI without a boat or helicopter.
Take Rt 72 all the way in to LBI. Dumps off at Ship Bottom. Head all the way to the last traffic signal, this is Long Beach Blvd. Make a left and drive all the way to the end. Barnegat Light is on your right...well, it's on the point but the parking lot is on the right.
Head over there in early afternoon. Bum around for a bit, climb the lighthouse until the park closes. Dunno if it's still 5pm or "at dusk" in the summer. If it's 5pm, grab dinner. If it's dusk, head out to the back bay side of the island when the park closes and watch a killer sunset! Or grab dinner first. There are a couple restaurants near by that are pretty good. Grab yourselves some cocktails and then dinner. Then you can head back to A.C. and gamble all night long.
A real good restaurant on LBI is The Plantation in Harvey Cedars. A bit pricey but excellent fare.
Oh, when you are heading in to LBI, when Rt 72 forks on the island, you'll be on West 9th Street. When you get to the corner of West 9th Street and Central Ave, the building on your left is the world famous Ron Jon Surf Shop (http://www.ronjonsurfshop.com/) the original from 1959. Worth a visit, grab a t-shirt.
Another option is head down to Ocean City or Wildwood and hit the amusement parks.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
