not clear on bi-amping

Hello guys,Right now I own an Adcom gfa555 200wpc rack style amp and did notice a small toggle switch in the rear for brigding amps. If some one like me only has one set of speakers what does this do. Does putting amps in parraell increase quality or volume or maybe I'm just off on this theory.
I if one could afford such an amp would go for a Mac 2105 which is ss as is the Adcom so please inform me w/o reading an engineering book. Thanks....

    Bridging and bi-amping are two different things, which are you asking about ?

    tonyb is correct, they are not the same at all and bi-amping has nothing to do with the toggle switch. If you are thinking about flipping the toggle switch, you would turn your 2-channel amp into a 1-channel amp. It doesn't directly have anything to do with quality or volume.
