I was considering getting a Yamaha SOAVO-900C center. Found a good price on it. Has anyone heard this speaker? Also, it is 6 ohms like my fronts, so wondering if that is any benefit.

You would be better served getting a Polk Center that is a timbre match to your front speakers. I can't imagine the Yamaha center sounding good with Polk RTA 8T's.

I'm a new found believer in timbre match, I had always a pair of towers with a smallish yamaha center channel, after upgrading to an LSi frontstage, the match made a HUGE difference in movies. I'd save coin, and play the waiting game to get a matching center.

Sounds reasonable. Should I look then at an older Polk center? and what about the ohms?

I think 6-8 ohms is not as important versus speaker effeciancy , but it would be safest on the amplifier to have a 8 ohm center .
I have a 6 ohm kef center and have never had any problem driving except for once when I tried to bridge my audiocontrol amp for it (didnt work) .
But all the avr's worked fine .
One thing I would never try with a avr is 6 ohm rears .

Good to know. I actually just picked up a Polk CSi25 center. Will arrive soon. Not much info on this speaker. Some said it was made for the South American market. Dunno, some also said it's 4 ohms, some 8 ohms. Weird stuff. Anyway, got it cheap and will try it out.

I love great deals I got my kef model 100 for $12.50 , I also got a polk cs300 sitting spare , it sounds great but its hugelly awkward .
Are you driving the center w/a avr or externall amplifier ?

its in the polk recent & vintage link (bottom of products) w/manuals I found 4 ohms nominal compatible w/8 ohms , impedance changes as frquency changes , so if polk says its compatible trust their info .
Denon is good stuff but it will be easier/safer to keep the center option on small .
Let us know how you like the sound :)
