A Pair of Monitor 5A's in very good condition (some scratches on top of one )
w/peerless tweets. $30

Missing the fuses. The goodwill guy said they had the fuses but it looks like someone stole them. Hmmmm.

What kind of fuses do these take? Can I get the fuses at a place like Radio Shack or do I have to go to Polk?
I got static in my head

The fuse is a .75 amp fuse. Quick blow not slow.

Congrats! I have a pair of the 5As with the peerless as well. They're a sweet speaker...what are you going to power them with?

    Good Luck!

I currently have 5 pairs of speakers in my home office (the 5s, JBLs, Energy, LSI-7s, and a set of Cambridge Soundworks Model Sixes) and am picking up some Large Advents that will be tested there before they move on to (possibly) the garage.

My favorite little system at the moment, for casual listening, is a Nakamichi CA-5/Adcom GFA-545 on the Model Six speakers by Kloss. Cheap, cheap, cheap but so 'musical'! Operating with that system a cheap 5 dollar Technics (Goodwill) tuner from the 80s, and a Pioneer BDP-51FD as the CD/Video player bought for a ridiculously low close-out price.

Highly recommended as a 'budget' system for a small to mid-sized room YMMV.

Too many speakers...I don't think so.

You don't *have* to have fuses to test them. You can bridge the holder and see if the tweeters work. Just use some common sense with the volume knob (and use quality power)

My Goodwill always sucks, never found anything there.

I have 9 sets of speakers here:

    Monitor 10B in black
    Monitor 10B in Walnut (?)
    Monitor 10A in woodgrain
    Monitor 5B
    Monitor 5jr
    Monitor 4
    Interaudio by Bose

Using a Monitor 5jr as a Center Channel in my Home Theater setup.

Also, some crappy set of Mitsubishi speakers in the garage some guy gave me a few weeks ago.

I guess I have way too many.

not that i'm into cross-posting; but my latest thrift-store find was a pair of realistic Nova 10s....

I had seen a pair of these a little over a year ago and was intrigued by the fact that they were have an 8" woofer with a corresponding 8" passive radiator - and were apparently designed before there was a Polk Audio.

Anyways - like someone else said - you can't have too many speakers

I still prefer The Canopy in Elicott City for pit beef and the "looks" of the Bullpen place always kinda made me avoid it, now I'll have to try it! Can't stand The Crab Shanty anymore, really gone downhill IMO.:frown:

Canopy was always good.I lived in catonsville for a good while and frequented them.
Tangiers in Randallstown and Eldersburg was the place to go for seafood when they were around.
Ever hit Nino Taco when they were on Liberty Rd?

    Nino Taco is good!

IMO Bullpen much better than The Canopy.

Actually my favorite Pit Beef was Pioneer Pit Beef on Rolling Road!

I have buddy now working, managing Crab Shanty and am hoping he can do good things for the place. He already has started to book some music acts.

I grew up on The Canopy on Route 40 in Ellicott City, but I have not been back there in a while (it was never really the same after the fire). I occasionally go to the one in Glen Burnie when I am in Baltimore. I may have to try out the Bullpen sometime, but I am rarely on the east side of Baltimore.
I think that it is weird that pit beef does not seem to exist in the DC area.
