UPDATE: Kunis confirmed that she'll be attending the ball, tweeting, "I'm so happy to be going to the Marine corps Ball!"
_____

PREVIOUSLY:

Mila Kunis will be serving her country this November, but instead of camouflage fatigues, she'll be dressed up in a ball gown.

Sgt. Scott Moore, of the 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines in Musa Qala, Afghanistan, posted a video to YouTube last week asking the "Friends with Benefits" star to accompany him to the Marine Corps. Ball on November 18th in Greenville, North Carolina. It may have seemed a longshot at first, but thanks to the power of the internet, he now has a very famous date.

Fox News asked Kunis, who was with co-star Justin Timberlake at the time, if she had seen the video, and whether she'd attend the ball.

Timberlake, ever the ladies man, helped make it happen.

"Have you seen this? Have you heard about this? You need to do it for your country," he told her. And even though Timberlake said he wouldn't come along, Kunis confirmed that she'd be attending.
Story continues below

"I'll do it," she said, setting up what will most definitely be the flashiest couple in North Carolina this November.

Man, that's all I had to do was make a YouTube video? Dang. Lucky stiff.

Kudos to Timberlake for flying wingman too!

Sounds to me like she didn't really want to do it until Timberlake needled her into it.

Dude, if I was her, I'd be leery about some dude, Marine or not, askin' me out through YouTube like that. Besides, how many girls in your high school were asked to the prom and treated the person asking like they had leprosy? The fact that she agreed and will be going is good enough. She could have said no and behaved like the high school girls. But, she didn't. Is it the "right" thing to do? Yes, no, it's just a dance. What I think it shows is that Mila Kunis doesn't hold herself to be above anyone else. It's a level of humility that isn't very often seen in Hollywood.

Timberlake, all he did was pass her the note in homeroom and put in a good word for the Marine. Sometimes, all you need is that one extra voice to say "C'mon! Ya gotta go! It'll be fun, I swear!"

I am so damn jealous of this guy. At least North Carolina is close enough where I can maybe pull off a Mila-napping with a good plan.

    The backpedaling begins.
Is Mila Kunis Bailing on Date With Marine to Corps Ball?

So what's going on with Mila and the Marine?

According to multiple reports, Mila Kunis' hectic work schedule may stop her from accompanying Sgt. Scott Moore to the Marine Corps Ball in North Carolina on November 18.

FOX411.com was the Cupid who helped set up the Marine/Mila date when we asked Kunis this past weekend if she would attend the event with Sgt. Moore

Kunis, who was promoting her film "Friends With Benefits," famously said "yes," and her co-star Justin Timberlake backed her up, telling Sgt. Moore to our camera, "I'm going to make this happen for you, man. This needs to go down."

Kunis was unaware of Moore's video invitation when we told her about it, and said "yes" without the opportunity to check her shooting schedule. And again, in her defense, she didn't even know the date of the Corps Ball.

But a "yes" is a "yes," especially when the "yes" is to a marine stationed overseas in Afghanistan, right?

Sgt. Moore is certainly looking forward to it, telling FOX411.com Tuesday in a statement that "It's going to be a great experience to meet her, and it's going to make the ball more special for everyone.?

According to one report, Kunis will indeed be in production in late November, so she's trying to meet up with Sgt. Moore for a private get-together at an undisclosed location at an undisclosed time.

But E! Online is reporting that while Kunis does have schedule conflicts, she and her posse are doing all they can to organize her production schedule so that she and Sgt. Moore can attend the highly anticipated ball together.

And if Kunis fulfills her promise, Justin Timberlake may have to as well, as the whole "Asking a celebrity to the Marine Corps Ball on a video" phenomenon has snowballed, and Timberlake now has his own request from a female Marine to answer.

C'mon Kunis, call us Cupid, but we know you'll make it happen. Otherwise, we may need to take Timberlake up on his word and exert a little extra A-list peer pressure!

    Dang. That's a drag.

What's one night at a dance, toots? Honestly? Like she doesn't have an entourage following her around everywhere. fly in, go to the ball for one night and fly out the next day.

This is how MSN reported it originally-

"The actress's acceptance came after a little push from Timberlake and a Fox411 reporter, who questioned her about the invite during a weekend interview to promote "Friends With Benefits."

"Have you seen this? Have you heard about this? You need to do it for your country," urged Justin, who added directly to Sgt. Moore, "I'm going to work on this, man. This needs to go down."

After checking with her rep about the video come-on, Mila consented to be Moore's date.

"I'll go. I'll do it for you," she told Timberlake. "Are you going to come?"

Responded her leading man, "They don't want me! They want you." He then reiterated, "You need to do it for your country."

Declared Kunis, who is now our No. 1 girl crush, "I'll do it."
    "

So, she didn't decide to do it and Timberlake "backed her up". She didn't really want to do it in the first place.

    How about a double date?

Justin Timberlake Asked to Marine Ball By Cpl. Kelsey De Santis Post-Mila Kunis’ Invite!

    Justin_Timberlake_Kelsey_Marine_Ball_July13newsbt-300x189.jpg

Justin Timberlake was the one who convinced Mila Kunis to accept Sgt. Scott Moore‘s video invitation to the Marine Corps Ball, and now Moore’s fellow Marine is asking JT to be her date. Cpl. Kelsey De Santis asked Mila’s Friends With Benefits co-star to accompany her to the gala on Nov. 12!

“You want to call out my girl Mila, well I’m gonna call you out and ask you to come to the Marine Corps Ball with me on November 12 in Washington D.C.,” Cpl. De Satis says in her personal video message to JT, adding wittily, “And if you can’t go, all I have to say is ‘Cry Me a River.’ ”

Yeah, Mr. Pessimistic Poopypants, here's the video of the above referenced conversation:

    <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hiSgm_cgSaE?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hiSgm_cgSaE?version=3&quot; type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>

That doesn't look like anyone needed to do any convincing to get Ms. Kunis to accept this offer.

Seriously, can you imagine how many people, soldiers included, ask out beautiful celebrities every day? If she goes it's cool and all but it's a guarantee she has ignored or dismissed hundreds of similar offers. I don't think it makes her a horrible person.
