Upgrade
Hello Polkies, Need some advice my current setup is T90e(aka m60II) as fronts, M30's as front heights. M40's as rears, CS20 as center and PSW505 as a sub. Running this all on a Pioneer VSX-1020. Room size 12X18ft. I would like to upgrade the T90e to RTiA7's However I dont think my reciever is up for the job(110w X 7ch, no preouts). I believe I would need a new reciever and also an amp.
In my situation with my setup is it worth the upgrade to the RTi7's. Or would it be overkill for the size of the room?
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in adavance

Hmmm... I'm sure you are going to field a ton of opinions on this one. I recently found myself in a similar situation to you. I have an 11x17 room, closed with one open door way... 8-9 ft ceilings... with a listening area roughly 10 ft from the front speakers.
I didn't have access to a place where I could hear the 7's. I actually ended up with the 3's... they sound fantastic and don't overwhelm the space.
Do you have a way to hear the 7's before you buy them?
I would do some research --- preferably in person --- on how the 7's would sound based on your seating position. I did read that near-field listening with the 3's (meaning 4 ft away from the speaker) was not all that great.

I live in Albuquerque and the only store that carries polk is BB( Nothing above TSI's). So hearing them in person will be out of the question. My room dimensions and listening position is very similar to yours. I had posted a question in the electronics section about a amp to power those guys and, tonyb gave me the answer I was dreading, LOL I'm going to have to upgrade more than just the speakers.Living Room

Interesting...
I am in a very similar boat. I have the gear to drive just about anything, and I am looking to upgrade. HOWEVER, I am also thinking about downsizing a little, as oposed to the OP. My room is 18x14, and I really think that a setup like to 27's would be nice, because I can push that with my onkyo 608 and sell off at least some of my other stuff.
tommyt21: you will want more power to really hear those a7s, which means at the very minimum a nice new receiver and possibly an amp. Gets expensive! but if that's what you want, do it!
27: do you feel like your receiver is adequately pushing your rtia bookshelf setup? I really don't see a need for big towers in my room, and I feel like I really won't lose much, if at all, going to all bookshelves of a better quality than my monitos. I'm thinking 5.1 with a3, a1, a6 center. What has been your experience vs monitors and which monitors did you have?Living Room 7.1 HT Rig:
